i think it is 3 months they have to send out the nip but i could be wrong

NIP is 14 days

after that it is not applicable, however it is 14 reasonable days so over xmas period or with posta strikes etc then they can argue extra time

I got the impression that you were stopped roadside in that cae there wont be an NIP as it was given at the time of being pulled

get green slip, surrender license at station and send fine to plymouth

easy as

Thanks for the info guys. It's just a tad annoying when I drive and ride as carefully and slow as I do and get done for speeding in a van!

I wasn't stopped at the roadside, the notice was sent through the post. The incident happened on 19/09/07. I was told by a friend in the pub that, after he got caught for speeding, he received the ticket after 14 days and could appeal or the fine was obsolete or something like that

I don't have a problem taking my punishment. Anyway, filling out the form now and sending away today. My clean license and pride - tarnished!

I fail to see how there can be ANY loop-hole for a red light camera - it was either red or it wasn't. You wouldn't be laughing if a car did it to you as you went through on your bike would you What you did is no different to the standard "sorry mate I didn't see you" response, is it

I understand your rant totally and not wanting sympathy! I got prosecuted dont worry! 3 points £115 fine but in my posting it prob sounded worse than it was

got caught 0.3 sec after the light went red at approx 3.20am on an empty road in my recovery truck on my way to an accident for the POLICE!!! Silly i know but was a split second decisiion on an amber light, Guess i called it wrong! but payed the fine and took the points.

Sorry Moose if my post brought back horrible memory's for you but i know how horrible car and bike accidents are for all involved after all i spend alot of time scraping the mess off the roads.

I see. I agree that if you know you're going to fast then tough. But if you're just over because you're looking out for kiddies jumping out rather than your speedo then the punishment is too harsh cos correct me if I'm wrong but its no tollorance now.

I like to stick to 30s but you always get the numpties up your arse until you hit a 60 and leave them behind. They can speed in a 30 but can only do 40 in a 60....wierdos

Back to the points thing... I'm sure I read somewhere that due to so many people having points since the population of cameras has increased so rapidly, the insurance companies don't really take much notice of your first three points? Could have that wrong, but if thats the case, its just the £60 and behave yerself for a while! lol

I recieved 6 points this year and my insurance actually cost less than last year.

let me tell you a story...got a NIP from north wales police for doing 40 in a 30, asked for the photographic proof and site of camera. Got photo with letter stating that as it was a mobile unit they couldn't tell me where the camera was. Sent letter back stating how did they know then that it was in a 30 limit, after 3 YEARS of fighting this, they dropped the speeding fine and issued a fine of £250 for not identifying the driver of the vehicle, which is why I needed the location of the camera as 2 of us were sharing the driving and wanted to know which one was going to take the points.
You'll never win against them. they'll get you one or another... !!!!
