Re: SPOTTED !!!
GAV, steve w thinks its had the front re valved but not sprung, the rear was supposedly a ex j dunlop but we think thats a ebay fake but it seems to work ok. suspension was maybe too hard for the road but as im not 100%fit yet its difficult to tell.
the bikes been regeared front and rear and also has a quick action throttle which is very responsive on and off the gas but im not convinced by the fuelling on it,backfires like hell when around the 5000rpm area, sounds nice though.
its a lot narrower than my zx10 was and feels heavier but doesnt feel any heavier than my mates k5 750 in fact i'd say it feels lighter. the steering lock is poor so i'd to have to do a u-turn at donny on it
i'm looking forward to trying it on track so i can compare it to the other twins ive owned and see how i remember them. so far i'd say the mille was the best handling on track and road and suprisingly quick, the ducatis looked and sounded the best and i loved every ride on them which is something ive not had on any other bike bar maybe the 6rr. so far the sp1 makes no sense as a road bike with extra mods done to it but im hoping it will prove me wrong on track as i do prefer vtwins,i think this ones playing with me on the speedo as i was flat out the other day and the speedo was showing 137 yet the dyno charts show its capable of nearly 170 so i think the speedos out and making me think the bikes slower than it actually is.
roll on donny, not long to go now

Re: SPOTTED !!!
dont think so,its got some kind of speedo recalibrator under the seat unit but i dont think its working properly if the dyno sheets are to be beleived
im sure my mate said he was showing about 160+ when mine was showing 137

Re: SPOTTED !!!
It sounds like it's had a lot of stuff done to it and setup quite track orientated. I'm sure it'll shine on the track.
You can get some popping if it still has the PAIR system fitted, although if the prev owner has fitted the mods you said I would had thought he would had removed the PAIR system!! anyway its: http://www.rc51.org/pair.htm also worth removing the Flapper if it hasnt: http://www.rc51.org/valve.htm they dont add any real performance but it's pointless emissions stuff. Strangely enough mine has never popped even when I had the PAIR system even with both race cans and standard cans...almost a shame
The loaded map could be incorrect, worth checking it out, just make sure you backup the current map, it normally tells you in the description if its a free map or custom map, then again just because its a custom map it doesn't mean its any good
the dyno operator could had been crap or only setup for topend BHP. Worth trying the free maps off the Powercommander website, I use them on mine and find them really good. Although with the airbox mods I'd expect you'd need a custom setup.
Is it a speedo healer under the seat? it's probably setup incorrectly. Their website has a really good calculator to workout the settings based on gearing etc: http://www.healtech-electronics.com/
Also, you gonna fit the standard cans at Donington since its a 98db limit?

Re: SPOTTED !!!
nope, got the baffles for the 98db limit and yes it is the pair system
its had 3 differnet dyno sessions, each time he changed something it went on gt's dyno and had the maps changed.im not a huge fan but other people swear by them. im sure its fuelling correctly but it pops almost every time its drops to 5 krpm
have stuck a bit of gaffer tape over the speedo so i can ignore what it says and just enjoy riding the thing,im waiting to hear what my mates onboard footage showed we were doing as that will give a better indication of the top speed and if its out. might have a look at the old speedo calibrator and unpug it and see what the speedo says then
just over 2 weeks to go now

Re: SPOTTED !!!
Stubbied Akra's...you better hope the people at Donington confuse you with a low flying aircraft!!
I hope those baffles do the job!
I'm going standard cans, one because of the noise and two because they come free with a box of cereals so wont be expensive to replace if the worst does happen!
Looks nice, I'm not a huge fan of the Laguna Seca colour scheme though. A little to Yank for me I'm afraid
That shock looks standard too?

Re: SPOTTED !!!
yep its a stock shock, think the guy bought a dud, good ol ebay
i dont mind the laguna scheme, would hsve preferred a red n black one but beggars cant be choosers
he said it was 94db with the baffles in at donny and 102db with them removed and after running 50mm termis on me 916 that were only 98db i find it beleiveable

Re: SPOTTED !!!
Looks like a nice bike you got yourself there deej, but as you know I'm slighlty biased
Considering that you've owned/ridden most of the modern sports V twins it would be interesting to hear your thoughts/comparisons. Maybe a mini write up sometime in the future???
BTW you've probably already found out, but the speedo is taken from the front sproket.

Re: SPOTTED !!!
I only jest
They're good bikes. Honda did a lot of good things and bad things with the SP series.
Stock Air filters are awesomely tuned for the engine, K&N can sometimes make things worse.
Stock downpipes are very good, barely any companies make a full system and those that did, do dont benefit as much as other bikes can.
Stock rear suspension is quite good, top notch OE. Better than most standard suspension, adjustments actually make a difference!
Most of the bike is over engineered, frame is built for a 160+BHP motor but only has 115-120BHP as standard.
Engine is very strong, one guy in America does about 300mile commute a day on his, over 100,000miles on original engine now.
Stock fuelling is bad unless you're on the track so is the fuel consumption.
Front forks messed up, impossible to set correct sag etc because of incorrect springs and preload.
Suspension is a little to hard for the road
Side radiators easy to smash in an accident and they're not the greatest at cooling either
Over geared as standard
They're no better or no worse than all the other Twins out there, same power, same weight etc excluding the 1098 though.
Heres a 'shootout' between the SP2, RSV Factory and 999S, I've probably posted it before but here it is http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Article_P ... 131&Page=1
