Sorry to hear about that Jack :(

Am surprised about the Scorpian can as I thought they were road legal...

Plate wise I swapped the sail sized one on my 250 for an 8x6 which is still the right shape and allegedly can still be read by anpr (although the typeface is slightly smaller than the full sized plate) ... wonder if they pulled you 'cos you didn't show up on anpr? Or do the anpr cameras now flag up small plate sizes?

At least it's prompted you to get the rear tyre sorted though!

1. What revs did they make you rev it to, to take a reading?
2. Were you riding the 250 in your Avatar?
3. And what db did they do you for?
3. What did they say was the legal db limit?

And out of interest how high were your illegal plate letters - 64mm being the legal size?

Thanks

Layne
1. I had to rev it to 6000 and then to 10,000
2.Yes
3.It came out as a maximum of 108db
4.The legal limit is 80db

Isn't 108Db stupidly loud?? I can't beleive its that loud!!

As for the limit being 80, I'm sure mines way over that. And thats with a fully stamped road legal exhaust with baffles in.!

Do these db meters not need to be calibrated and the test performed in a certain way?

Yeah, sounds a bit dodgy to me too. My ZX6 is as standard and really quiet but at full chat I'm sure it must be louder than 80db?

I've noticed they're really anal about these pointless little things down here.

Right ive just been down to see my dads mate who does the sound testing for grasstrack meetings. He used his sound tester and we did the exact same test as the police did. My exhaust only came out as 86db. I know this is still over the limit but do you think i could contest my fine as the police equipment is dodgy?

http://www.vca.gov.uk/additional/files/ ... vca039.pdf proof of the measley 82db noise limit (on bikes above 175cc). Although i can't find the document that states how or where 82db has to be tested. Might be worth emailing someone at the Department for Transport to check it. But you definately have to have BS AU 193a, 1990/T3 stamped on it.

Well, thats me fooked. The pair of twin open carbon renegades on my SV1000S dont have a sausage in them - totally open - and there's no way they'll pass any of that rubbish.

When I was pulled for my plate they didn't pay any attention to the cans. Hmm.

Hey, the digits are nearly the right size now and even the boarder is correct – they obviously just didn’t like the look of you…

And the fact they thought mine looks like it is going 20mph faster than it was :!:

Please! The one with your good self draped lazily over the tank wearing the pink crop top will go great next to my BoyZone poster.
