Just write out a receipt saying something similar to

" I [insert sellers name here] agree to purchase motorcycle [reg here] [model and make here] on [date here at [time here] from [your name here] for the total price of [price here]

Signed
[his signature here]"

Make 2 copys get one for him to take away and one for you to keep with it all filled in. should be enough proof to dvla etc if needs be.

I never understand what it is about people and bikes they sell ...... who gives a monkeys *** what happens to it once it's been bought by somebody else :? - if you're that bothered about what happens to it, don't sell it in the first place :?

Tom, make sure you keep the main part of the logbook and send it off to DVLA - that's what you're supposed to do nowadays - about 9 years ago I got burned after selling a car, the buyer seemed reasonable enough and said that he'd see to the logbook and everything - six months later I get fined for it being spotted parked in town with no tax, still registered to me and no matter how much I ranted at them, I was still liable for it  If this Essex kid's as much of a t!t as he appears to be, you don't want to leave yourself open to anything he might do!

well i'm not going to be able to do that straight away.. as the guy i bought the bike off never sent the main part of the log book off to the dvla.. therefore i never had full registered ownership of the bike. (I have no way of getting hold of him) I have the temporary part which i have sent off to the dvla with a V62 form to get a replacement certificate. but it could be a few weeks before i get the full registration document back (as they have to contact he guy i bought it off).. and the new buyer is coming for the bike thisweek and has already paid for it. What should I do?.. just let him take the bike and hope like fxck that it comes in a week or so and i can send it off that he's the new owner or refuse to let him take the bike until i have the v5 back and we can sign it over to him?.. :?

you tit,you should never sell a vehicle unless you have the v5. it needs to be signed over on purchase as two signatures are required. personally i'd put him off until you have the v5 but that could be weeks away and in the mean time he can wlak away from your bike and buy another one. tough call matey but i'd never buy a road bike without its v5 present
