well what a couple of days we had, 7.5 hrs to get to silverstone (bloody tourists) only to try and book into the wrong hotel, oops   i hd booked the travelodge not the premier inn reception i was stood in

once i'd got over k7daves snorring i managed to get some sleep, not a lot as i kept panicking that someone was going to nick the bikes/trailer. woke up to a perfect blue sky with the odd little white cloud, perfect we thought 8) 8)

got a nice garage and met up with dave from SP and few of the other exeter guys, 6 of us in total. once set up went and signed on and waited for the briefing which was where the first suprise happened. kev healy (focused owner) was actually quite funny and not shouting down at peeps in a briefing, think he was showing off to the gp stars as hes never been that relaxed or funny before. briefing was good and the stars got introduced one by one to a big cheer

went out for 3 warm up/sighting laps off which i was very nervous as it was first time on a bike since my funky. i actually found this helped me this time out,not sure i'd like it in the future but for monday it was spot on as i had 3 laps to find my way around a bike and silverstone again. still prefer the others way of running the groups. ie fast, inters then novice rather than the other way round that focused do it as the extra novice breifing holds things up a bit longer than needed.

went out for first session and god was i slow,so slow i was actually thinking of going novice group or packing up,things had got that bad  luckily me mate dave arranged for him to have a lesson with one of the stars so i said i'd try n follow with the camera on,(sorry dave but it didnt work)it had come in damp and after the first lap they put a few peeps between me n them so i passed them on the straight to try catch up with dave and niall mackenzie and upon exiting the first copper i nailed it out and across the white pit lane exit line and span the back up left then right which once i'd calmed down actually bought me to life and i was then behind dave n niall and following nialls line - well someone had to as dave was nowhere near them :P :P

Image

third session and i had arranged to have a lesson with jamie whitham, luckily it was dry for this one. jamie asked where i was struggling to which i replied everywhere and told him why. he listened and told me to go in front and he'd follow once he'd seen a few weaknesses, off i went getting into a rythmn and after a lap dave came past us both and that was a red rag to a bull then  i settled down and started to take the lines that niall mac had shown us,caught dave up and waited for whit to pass to show me where i was going wrong - it never happened. session finished and i pulled into pit lane with whit still right behind me,we stopped outside their garage and waited for a debrief. whit too his lid, turned round and said "well ive seen a lot fookin worse than that" which made me n dave both burst out laughing. whit gave me loads of confidence with what he had to stay and agve me a tip for one corner that i didnt quite have the right line for

all round a great day mainly down to riding on track with 5 stars and lessons from 2 legends, whitham was truly a star and had a really good chat to me n dave. would definetly go back on a gp stars day with focused again, would like to try a normal day to see how much theyve changed as when i spoke to kev healy he still didnt seem to have any time for you once the stars werent around. didnt take from a great day out and one that got me buzzing about bikes again :P :P :P :P

whens the next one
