Dont need a signed certificate or [censored] all by law
Your insurance company might try it on though

of course you do,if your only legally able/old enough to ride a 33bhp bike and you ride a unrestricted fireblade then your technically riding with no licencse so your insurance is also invalid. risking a big fine and maybe a loss of licencse and obviously increased premiums

Re: fireblade
When I had my ZXR400 at 17, I bought the FI International kit, think it was about £150 exactly then.. I couldnt buy it direct though, I went to a garage who I shalt name, got them to buy the kit for me, and I got them to fill out all of the paperwork for the certificate, and I also paid them NOT to fit the kit...
Got caught speeding one time, given a producer, took all of the stuff to the Police station.. thank you very much, be on your way and dont do it again..
Had the incident been more serious, and the Police wanted to undertake bike dyno testing or whatever, I'm sure the outcome would have been alot different, and I would have got in alot of trouble!
Just be careful mate!

You dont need a certificate though deej, you just need the bike to be restricted.deej wrote:Cheese Monkey wrote:Dont need a signed certificate or [censored] all by law![]()

Re: fireblade
you just need to be able to prove it's restricted. So all you really need is a dyno sheet and photoshop
However, its such a tiny niche in the law hardly any officers even know about it, in theory you could get a proper spanking from the plod but i would be interested to see if anyone here knows anyone/heard about anyone getting in trouble for it.

Re: fireblade
No, the law is that it has to be restricted.
Its up to the police to proove that it is not, you do not need any form of paperwork to say that it is. Innocent until proven guilty and all that. Obviously its potentially going to make your life alot easier if you got it though

Re: fireblade

trust me ive been there and was lucky i had the certificate,if i didnt have it i would have been over 2k out of pocket ?
like someone said the normal cops dont know that much about it but the insurance guys sure do and will definetly use it given half the chance.
there was a lad in newquay who got fined £60 this summer for riding with his helmet strap undone so there are some eagle eyed traffic cops who will find away of doing you given half the chance especially if you ride like a tit

Re: fireblade
For at least the last two if not three years during April / May Taunton police have been running Operation Triumph (I believe that really is the name they called it) which specifically targets bikers on restricted licenses. Basically they stop as many bikes as possible and check to see if the rider is on a restricted license, if so you have to follow them back to the station where they have a mobile dyno. If your bike makes too much power you are then royally rogered. I hear the bike is impounded, and you are stung for the dyno fee, storage and admin charges, and of course done for riding without a license and riding without insurance.Tom L wrote:but i would be interested to see if anyone here knows anyone/heard about anyone getting in trouble for it.
Over the years I have had many customers through the shop who have been caught by this operation, hence how I know about it, and I doubt the Taunton plod are the only ones that have thought of it.
