I got a part worn metzeler someting or other in the shed going cheap with loads of tread left on it

i will chuck in my 2p as well ;) , as was mentioned earlier, goaty I think, was the Maxxis Diamondbacks. so far so good, haven't run out of grip yet ( been ridden a few times at 'progressive' ;) road pace) and are giving good mileage. Bonus is, they are reasonably cheaper than most of the established brands.

But for your usage I would reccomend touring tyres of whatever brand you think you can budget for, on Cornish roads I generally think these suit your needs until you feel the urge to venture into track days or your road riding becomes more ' experienced' ...

Didn't enjoy the feel of the conti. It was on the bike when I bought it. When I need a rear for the MOT I decided to get a matching pair. My riding style may have something to do with it. Bit too aggressive maybe. I think the last owner used the bike to commute to London so sticky was not the obvious choice. After what you said about the "funny" feel of the diamonds it made sense but after getting used to them I like them. I had a metzeler on the rear which I hated.

As a relatively new rider MCH I think touring is the way to go, they will last longer and as you gain the experience you can change them for what you want next time

Well.... I have just bought the rear Maxxis M6029 radial for The Fizzer to match the one up front. I'll let you all know how I go with them.

i took a different aproach to this than others i decided to take the route of if it aint broke dont fix it?was happy with the peformance of the tyrees i had on so bought the same again dunlop sp2 max dont know if that helps do know you need a new tyre and maybe indicator !!!

That's the thing with bikes and tyres. You have to use what you feel comfortable with otherwise you will have no confidence banking into corners. This is why you get soooo many different opinions.

Nobody is right or wrong.

If everyone liked the same thing...there would not be assorted biscuits !!!!
