Scottoiler for me, does a much better job at lubricating the chain than doing it manually and doesnt fling (unless you're a 'tard and cant follow simple instructions)
If you prefer to spend like £5 a can on chain loob, then I used to use P1J Blue back in the day.

Might invest in a Scottoiler one day, but theres a few other bits I have my eye on atm. So will have to just stick to manually lubing the chain up for now

Any. Though I would buy the ceramic ones all the time if I could as you can put them onto a clean and cold chain.

I use Wurth Dry Lube, so far good stuff as long as you apply it correctly ;) . Put it on after a ride ( same as most lube's TBH) but the important thing is to SHAKE CAN WELL! Deej taught me that very important fact. If you don't then the lubey parts don't mix properly and it doesn't oil properly. Also regular' ish' chain cleaning helps as it means you are applying the lube to the chain not old lube residue and road grime. My chain is definitely lasting longer since I started using it properly.
Oh and agree with PJ Blue, NOT 'BLACK'! That does fling like shit

!

Not sure if this is a good method but what i use and do is; start by spraying wd40 on the chain let it do its magic for a good 5 minutes to get rid of all the old gunge then get a fairly tough brush and give it a good scrub, afterwards applying holts doesn't seem too sticky but sticky enough.
