It's not all bad.
A bike has just stopped outside my office, the girlfriend on the back is wearing a pair of shorts & leather jacket - my underpants have more material! As I said, not all bad.

A lot of the mopeds I see are 125cc which can do 60mph plus and even the 50cc peds can be modified to go faster (though most I see make lots of noise and go no where quickly)
I'm not saying they should suit up, it's down to them to make the choice just makes me cringe when I see it.

An excellent observation, so best be prepared, especially in this heat because the aggressiveness of drivers notches up, they will often back off with cyclists, as they look so flimsy and vulnerable, in many instances drivers treat motorcyclists as fair game, there is often a filter turd blocking you over, who enjoys his/her moment inconveniencing bikers, more and more of them like to leave this dash to block till the last moment, inexperienced riders going too fast are easy prey for them, and if you're in shorts and tshirts its gonna smart some.Atomic wrote:Would the added weight of a ped ( say 100kg) not drag it's rider a bit further down the road at 30mph?
Re: Not being a gear Nazi, but........
After seeing the state of my leathers after my recent crash (where all i hit was the road), i will never ride around outside of town without leathers on.
I used to wear jeans sometimes when doing easy trips on the cb but looking at the scuff marks on my kit when i wasnt actually going that fast has changed my mind for good.
I broke my collar bone, ribs and a bone in my hand even though i had armour on BUT apart from where my collar bone broke and a tiny graze on my knee i didnt have anyother visible brusing or cuts.
Not bad considering i slid down the country equivalent of a B&d sander for 100 yards...
Ive got a summer mesh jacket but considering putting in a better back protector...

When I had my altercation with a truck at 0mph I still got booted down the road a bit. Hurt ankle and shoulder.
Ambulance guy said it was nice to turn up to a bike accident and have the rider actually wearing all the right kit.
It's all mothballed now though.
Like has been said, personal choice but doesn't hurt to put the info out there each year just in case.
