What a great day. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Thanks to Simon for leading and a great route. Thanks to the JM's (well some of them ) and Steve for being TEC. Was great to meet some new people as well as the regulars. Looking forward to the next one.

Just to Clarify... I made an error in my JM role early on, sorry guys. There is logic for what happened but there you go...

Sorry if son folk found the day not to their liking. The guy at the front, Si in this case does not break the posted limits. Ok, maybe a realistic mph or 2 but nothing earth shattering. How folk decide to ride behind the lead rider is up to them, bearing in mind it is meant to be friendly pace. A group I amy size can get separated by large distances in a very short distance, let alone 20 plus when you put in a few sets if lights, a tractor or two... The getting lost on a friendly ride is very rare as the jm's and tec systems do work. I would suggest those put off by today's antics give the next friendly a go before being put off completely.

Note for all, not just jm's... (myself included) reel it in,

Si puts in a lot of graft for these rideouts and it reflects on him as well as the group. My hands are up for my cock up earlier.

Thanks Si for orangizing the ride. It was worth the 2 1/2 hour trip each way just to get to it. Great meeting more of you.

It happens, but i have to agree partly with Red5... A lot of work goes onto putting a ride on, the route, the posts on the forum, getting everyone together and then trying to keep them together...

There will always be mixed abilities and and range of experience, bikes, but a "FREINDLY" is designed to be just that a FREINDLY RIDE... This is about getting us all out REGARDLESS OF ABILITY and bringing the new people to SWB, new to biking some confidence, with a spread out group the opportunity for the pace to change will always happen, however if the junction markers cant get back to the front, or the group spreads out as larger groups always will, it everyones responsibility to look after everyone else, but primarily themselves... just because someone else is running at 90mph, does not mean you have to follow...

Simon runs a tight ship... and always a good ride... He also rarely gets any credit for the amount of work he puts into this, let alone the forum...

If you want a fast run... post it up

Let the JM's get back to front and do there job, of making sure you have know where your going and have a safe ride... I know Simon has a great arse (GPR CANS) but we don't all need to compete to be behind him... He's also quite shy you know

Kresmoor... You looked good today, and i really hope we see you out again... bloody good riding mate... passed his test 10 days ago and has only done a couple of hundred miles... Give me a shout and i'll happily meet up for a ride anytime... BALLS OF THE DAY TROPHY GOES TO YOU

Passed the test ten days ago??!!! Wow thats great going.

Thanks boys and girls for a great day and good company. A minor marking mishap but these things happen. A nod should be given to Simon and the markers for waiting, regrouping and getting everyone accounted for. (Well nearly everyone. Are you still in Bude Pebble? )
It would be very easy to shrug your shoulder and just ride on leaving people behind but that didn't happen. That's the friendly bit - you look after each other.

Don't give up on the big friendlies BD after one frustrating day. They're a proper laugh and a great social occasion. Problems rarely happens and in fact considering its the middle of August and some of the roads were rammed with tin box grockles it could have been been far worse. Have another go in September when the holiday traffic has gone. I'll shall be up for Steve0's ride. The more the merrier.

I enjoyed it and as always on SWB rideouts I met new people, went to places I hadn't been before and discovered new roads I'll want to ride again. And that's the point of it.

Sorry to bail early on, but really lovely to have met up with you all this morning. I am certain I didn't get to speak to everyone (coffee was needed!! lol) so a big hello to anyone I missed!

Apologies for the no show , I got involved in a surprise birthday party last night , but thought i would catch up wioth ya in Cornwall later in the day as i did not get up ealry enough , then got a phone call from a freind wanting help getting a bike going he had restored , i he has been trying to start it for 2 das and was tearing his hair out , so i have been in Bere alston all afternoon sorting that out

Was good to see some faces but will be my last ride out for a while. Will do a few on my own from now on! Have fun guys

It's a difficult task for the JM's to catch up and get back to the front especially considering the amount of riders and varied level of riding skill and amount of distance that can be covered in such a short time.

I for one did not know about the new licence holder and my hat goes off to you sir - Well done

I've read from some of the comments (can only imagine from the silent ones) that there is a mixed emotion from the rideout and to be fair If someone passes you don't feel threatened or intimidated, you are your own person so ride at your own pace - We all get frustrated at times but the aim of a friendly is to just ride at your own pace.

This was only my second rideout and I myself have only been back to riding since 1st April this year after a 26 year gap so can understand where some of you are coming from, however the aim of the rideouts is to ride and ride at your own pace there is no need to think that you have to race or whatever, your in control of your bike and ride how you feel comfortable. The back marker is so that no one is left behind and that you get to the destination, the JM's are there for guidance at junctions.

This is my opinion on the rideout ..... and enjoyed every bloody minute of it

As this was my first group ride I had no expectations, however I was a little unnerved at the pace a few were putting in and nearly binned it after a hour. However, Steve gave me a bit of a pep talk and I stuck with it, which I am glad I did.

My main reason for joining the day was to meet some like minded people and I achieved that.

With time and miles I will improve.

Good on you

The one thing about these big group rides is you have got every style of bike, every cc of bike and abilities across the board. All together all at the same time!!!

What seems like warp speed to you might seem like a slow bimble to others. As mentioned above your on a bike, its only you riding so go at your pace and your speed so you feel comfortable. The design of the ride allows for all talents and anybody to go as slow as they like without any pressure to try and keep up.

Having taken a 20+ year gap on riding bikes when I got on a bike in 2010 the thought of leaning round a corner was about the most alien thing my body could handle would nearly stop every time i wanted to go round a bend.

I am glad you kept going. keep at it, it does come and will feel more natural. If i may some basic training will help. The Police Bike Safe is very cheep and a great day money well spent. Also get yourself a copy of Twist of the Wrist its a good read and will help you with some basics.
