yeah i have got the same problem....... money!
i am needing £1100 for the engine and exhaust!!! and crash bungs just in case, after all we are in britain!!!
if i was to change the lengh of pipe work and have a stubby silencer what effect will that have on the powerband and delievery???? as the normal piping and silencer has the powerband at 9000 revs

Why bother spending that sort of cash, trust me its never worth it on an old hack, i spent a fortune on my 89 NC30 and then picked up a 1999 Fireblade for £1500!!!

Anyway, welcome!

PS Speedy, some of your responses are class... you been reading my posts and taking pointers??!!!!

It is! What are you having done to the engine thats costing that much?
I had a top engine rebuild and carb rebuild done for £300.

hey ya! this is what i am getting done, and only the best for my baby!!!

(this is copied and pasted from Graeme France's e-mail)

5k mileage engine 200 pounds exchange - 3 month warranty exc. track use
obviously.
New Stainless exhaust system - 295
New Carbon race can with stainless steel internals - 135
New DB killer for above - 25 pounds.
Oil / filter / sump washer (32) ex. port gaskets (10) / antifreeze (6) / new
Iridium plugs (34) / water outlet Orings (5) - 87
Labour to remove / refit etc - 120

Total - 862 pounds.

 and then i am getting him to fit:

crash bungs - 48 pounds the pair. No extra labour to fit.
Crash handlebar bar ends - 12 pounds each fitted.

and rolloing road on top of that so it is set up correctly, another £130!!!
+ pick-up and delivery £100

TOTAL: £1164

so i have a bit of saving to do!!!
the reason why i want to stick with the CBR400RR is because insurance isn't exactly on my side, and they are great!
have you seen the 400 topic??? it is in bike banter

Yea I do.

Think hard before you spend that sort of money on that bike. You will get much better value for money by changing your bike. You will never get your money back when you sell it.

But if you really like that bike, and the cycle parts are in good nick, go for it.

yeah i know but insurance really isn't on my side, if i go for a 600 then i'm looking at bout £1000 per year, where as i am only paying £625 full e-comp at the mo, even my 125 is costing more!!! (£878 TPFT) but it is brand new!
i have to stick to road bikes too because, 1. my only vehicle will be bikes
2. i love to ride that much
3. it is my only transport
4. i plan on doing loads of miles (i go to see my girlfriend in lincoln as much as i can and that is 300 miles one way!!!)

yup i really do like the babyblades, this is my baby and i will get her sparkling before i let her go!!!! (no i'm NOT gay!)
and all the parts are brand new except the engine so that is why it costs so much.

+ i'm on a restricted licence!!!
when i move to bigger class bikes i'm thinking of the CBR900 but that is a couple of years yet!
