WhatsApp want's to share your phone number, Username, Call's made etc... with Facebook.

Personally was going to keep going with Whats App as we are now up to 105 on the Broadcast list but happy to consider other messaging apps if people are becoming uncomfortable with Whatsapp. (I am assuming Facebook message is out the window for obvious reasons )

The signal ap is a messenger system the same as whatsapp just not owned by facebook.

Reading the blurb about this update it seems to be focussed on whatsapp business users.
It Says private users the terms won't be changed.

I'm happy with whatsapp still.
Also they can't link me with facebook as I'm not on it.

they aren't linking you with fb, they are selling your info on your phone to fb advertisers.

I've installed signal. Pretty painless so far.

I have signal also.

So that they can target you more effectively for adverts on facebook.

Seems to be lots of fuss over nothing. Do you use Google? They do this already. Do you use Instagram? They record what you do, what you look at, etc. Do you use Twitter? They have your phone details & do the same. When you log onto the internet everything you do is recorded and your ISP is legally required to keep those records and make them available to the government on request.
All your phone details are recorded by WhatsApp (therefore Facebook) already, so I'm not sure what the issue with Facebook specifically is, when that data is already out there in multiple companies servers?

If you ever wonder how accessible you are, just type your name, phone number, user name, email address into Google and be amazed at what it brings up......

If you're worried about privacy get rid of all electronic communication devices; phone, internet, smart speaker etc. Do not electronically photograph anything unless you are able to remove the exif data. When you leave your home wear all dull black including a full face mask and hoodie, do not use any vehicle and even if you walk in the shadows you will be on camera some where.

Don't forget the tin foil hat too
