UPDATE # 4

I can confirm from Roy's family and their funeral director that a motorcycle escort by members of SWB would be most welcome, encouraged even; here's the details.

12.55 hrs Wednesday 1st November: All riders to gather with their motorcycles at the main entrance to Taunton Crematorium.
13.05 hrs: Riders & bikes to proceed slowly to the Crematorium Chapel, following the road signed 'Hearses Only', to canopy area in front of the Chapel.
13.10 hrs: Riders & bikes to stop for a short while to pay their respects, then proceed to the car park; park their bikes and walk back to the Chapel.
13.20 hrs: Roy's funeral service starts.

WAKE: As per' previous info', this is to be held immediately after the service at the Rumwell Farm Shop & Restaurant, Wellington Road, TA4 1EJ.

NOTE: The abovementioned motorcycle escort arrangements are weather dependant and entirely voluntary of course. If it's a 'car only' day then let's see if we can still give a good SWB send-off to our much missed friend Roy, one that he would have been proud of.

Thanks.

Not often we're asked to be as noisy as possible :80: .....so will have to make the most of this... rude not to %-( :-bd :D

Only comment I would make is I was totally up for the escort before the service but had not intended to stay for the funeral and will of course be in motorbike gear which seems somewhat disrespectful to Roy. Would much prefer to be in suitable attire for attending a funeral rather then Motorbike clobber. What is everybody else planning on doing?

I have only just seen this. Horrible news. I only met in Wales this year and that bandit is a work of art. RIP Roy. Such a loss. I would have loved to be there to pay my respects but due to work commitments I am unable. I can still see that smile now. πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”

Weather permitting I for one will be doing both, it's what Roy's family has requested. If it's 'car only' weather then I will be dressed appropriately.

I think Jean and the family would not think bike gear at all disrespectful when attending Roy's funeral.

As it is, Jane definitely wants to come and pay respects to a friend dear to both of us so we will have to use the car and I will be suited.

Wearing Bike gear at a Bike riders funeral is exactly what it's all about Rob.

Just logged-in for the first time in ages and am so sad to learn of Roy’s passing. A lovely bloke who always had a smile, a joke and a kind word for all he spoke to. I’ll do my best to be at the funeral and will do my bit to help grow the fund. RIP Roy.

I will be attending in bike appropriate clothing. Probably not one piece leathers though. As it is a family request to attend on motorcycles I would not consider this disrespectful in any way.

Thanks all. Appreciate the guidance. Have cleared further time off work to attend the full service as per the family wishes and will be there rain or shine.

Only meet Roy once but loved his hand made water wiper for his screen. Sadly I won’t be around but wish a good send off chaps
