The 1970's? For cornwall that is science fiction. They still fear Hayley's comet and eclipses. The bubonic plague is still rife as they dont wash.

They do wash, it's just that nettles and cow dung doesn't get them clean.

Fire scares them as they still think it's an evil spirit so they have yet to discover boiled water and it's many cleaning abilities.
