Debating whether to make this, On the one hand there is a chance that something may happen to the bike and on the other it may not. Do I risk it?

I got a recall that needs to be done that affects the rear shock

when was the recall first identified? How many miles have you/the bike done in "ignorant bliss" since then? What is the failure mode - total collapse or premature wear? What number of bikes recalled have actually had the issue?

Bikes affected are05-09 models. I have done about 2k. The main reason for getting it sorted is because me and the missus are going away and I don't want the shock to collapse. My bike has over 40k on it and it appears to be a corrosion issue. As far as I can tell, the previous owner used it for commuting in all weathers.
