I have been running a 114 link chain with a 55 profile treaded tyre , plan for this year was to run a 60 profile slick tyre with a 116 link chain, unfortunately due to a bit of confusion at the workshop the have cut the chain to 114, I was going to buy a new chain but have been advised I can run it with 2 "soft links" I am dubious about this ...whatcha think ?

I would of thought that the soft link is tested and as strong as your chain or it wouldn't be good enough to be apart of you chain so cant see why a 2nd would make it any weaker I'd do it take it easy and closely monitor it for a mile or two myself

It's a trackbike buddy, having the proverbials revved off it, thats why im dubious

I did wonder when you said slicks .not much chance of an easy mile or 2 then

I'd run it with 2 joining links.
If having 2 is risky then logically even just one is also risky.

Have you tried fitting the wheel and seeing what clearance is like with the 114 link chain? Jap bikes usually have a reasonable amount of clearance at the front of the arm, and a 5% profile increase isn't overly massive, you may find it's ok?

Most definitely won't fit, well it will but I can't get a tyre warmer on and after a few laps ,bit of heat, I think it would be rubbing the swingarm

What bike is it?
Are you perhaps changing from 190/55 to 200/60?
