Insurance - that often asked question!

Yep, the annual renewal has arrived on the floor mat with a heavy thump. The people I insure with sold out to Devitt DA last year, and the new premium has had a somewhat vertical jump in price ....

So who are people using for modified bikes? Both are currently on the same policy, but I'm wondering if it might be better with separate policies as the MV is just about standard, unlike the TL. ......

I don't know the answer to your question, but a mate has a fully comp rider policy through Carole Nash, he's got about 8 bikes with values up to 9k and pays about £500.

It depends how modified they are.
Bennetts allow a fair amount of mods without the need to even declare them, and also don't seem too bothered by things like full exhaust system and power commander.

i've got to renew mine soon. I was with RAC last year but they've pretty much doubled it on the renewel.

The WR is with Bennetts so i'll be giving them a call.

I've just done my SD with them - £86 fully comp with 4 years NCB.
Just run it through compare the market, I often get a quote from Bennetts (via compare the market) that is cheaper than going direct.

TLS - I have separate policies as it's always been cheaper that way.

When I bought the MV it was just added to the TL's policy for a minimal amount. Devitt took over from masterquote about 14-16mths ago and since then the policy has jumped by around £150 to £330.
The MV is easy/cheap to insure at just under £90 (Bennett's). The problem child is the TL. Being economical and limiting it to 5 mods gives only one quote (bike sure) from the meerkats at £170 ...... But if I'm honest I have to declare brakes, handlebars, fairing change, airbox mods, power commander, full exhaust system, carbon seat unit, changed swingarm, changed rear suspension, rear sets ..... And a few other things we don't need to mention and probably some stuff I've forgotten isn't stock ....

Guess I'm calling both tomorrow ...... And there's also the issue of how no claims will work with both bikes on one policy for 6 or 7yrs ....

I am with you for Bennetts. I got really upset when i was checking my policy a year ago when I found out that my bike would be insured but if it was damaged then it would be returned to stock. At the time i had a lot of modifications on my Gixxer thou and would have been really upset if all of that got taken off. Got hold of Bennetts and as long as I told them what all the bits were and sent the m a photo of the bike to prove it at he start of the policy they would insure the bike and the mods. Also a fully comp policy was not that bad either.

Bikesure has been reasonable. Haven't even needed to change between insurers last time.

Had been with Bennetts for a few years. £130 last year then wanted £360 this year. Changed to Devitt for £94 and then Bennetts got in touch and said they'd match it. Told them to [censored] off as they should have offered that first time. No such thing as loyalty anymore.

i've just insured the SDr with Bennetts, the WR is with them. Got fully comp, mods disclosed and legal cover all for under £125.

Both Bennetts and Devitts used the same underwriter and policy inclusions, just instead of looking after customers thought they would try to screw extra £260 for doing nothing.🤬

I use bikesure for multi bike and think its with Adrian Flux who are good if youve got lots of mods.
