Anyone got a wood thicknesser circa 500mm

As per title.
Trying to build a coffee table and need the wood planning flat and level.
Beer tokens available.
Slabs are 1200mm long 500mm wide.

You'll be lucky to find some one with a thicknesser that wide. Mine's 12" which is about as wide as any home workshop is likely to have. When I've made tables starting with wide timber I've sawn the pieces narrower for planing then glued back for the desired width. When I worked as a cabinetmaker in a factory we used industrial belt sanders for anything that wide. You could get out your cabinet scrapers and do it the old fashioned way

Yea that's the issue I'm having.

That burr grain is nigh on impossible to plane without tearing. Looks good but is a right bitch to work with, best finished with a random orbit sander working through the grits and hand finished with fine scotchbrite.

I know the big shops would do it but just wondering if anyone had one at home. Easier to do on weekends or evenings
I have just got a router coming so may build a router sled instead now
