Say hello, said the instruction, so.....
Hello.
I'm bristolsaint, although no longer from Bristol, and I've just discovered this forum. Some of you might know me from UKGSer and/or 790Duke forum.
Covid permitting, I ride a 790 Duke when twatting round Dorset's roads and a 1200GS for longer distance stuff. I've been riding since I was 16, so nearly 50 years

Favourite places for riding, other than Dorset, are Scotland and Andalucia. The furthest I've been was a tour of Morocco with the lovely Mrs Saint riding pillion, 5 years ago.
Well, that's me. I'll be back.

Good to have you along, bud.
You have joined a select band of intelligent, witty and downright sexy people who own KTMs

As requested, a photo of the toys. Roll on the end of lockdown and some better weather. It's chucking it down and blowing a gale at present. Still, it gives me time to plans some rides. I'm looking at doing a four corners ride; Lizard Point, Land's End, John O'Groats and Lowestoft Ness without using motorways at some point during the summer. I'll use the GS for that one.

Sound like a great idea - how long do you think that would that take to ride?

Run to the bun.
Look in the Rideouts section.

Hi and welcome along Derek, another KTM in the fold getting better all the time

Hope to catch you on a ride when we’re allowed. I think you’ll enjoy RTTB early start but that’s half the fun.

I reckon about a week. Maybe a day or 2 longer, plus stops to see family on the way. Total 2 weeks max. I don't want it to be an iron butt mission, nor a thrash. The idea is to enjoy it.
If queen nicola bans the English, as she clearly wants to, I'll forgo my favourite country to ride and do something else. I'm handy for the ferries from Poole here, so I can go continental instead.

I keep trying to plan something that just takes in Wales and the national parks of the north, and even that seems to take a week or more.

I could easily spend a week on the roads of North Devon and adjacent Somerset.

I ride the roads of Dorset, Devon and Somerset all the time and, when I lived in Bristol area, the roads of South Wales were my regular rides. Heading north gives me a new area to explore, especially by avoiding motorways. In the past when we've gone to Scotland it's been a trudge up the motorway. I fancy something different.

I did a 2500 mile tour up to Scotland a couple of years ago and apart from the initial trudge up the M5 to get to Wales I never used the motorway.
Up through Wales, overnight in Yorkshire to meet a mate joining me from Norwich, then up through the Lakes and into Scootland
