Are we becoming a bunch of old gits???!

Having just read the great posts by Jug and Tvrv37, is the average age of the forum members getting a bit on the more mature side.
When I stated riding the average age of a biker was about 26.
Are we still the core of the biking fraternity?
I’ll start, I’m a young 56 (don't know when that happened

).

As a fit and devilishly handsome soon to be 67 year old my observation is the "greyones" have been increasing in number. Or is it we're more likely to actually post on the forum and go on the ride outs than the kids

The youngsters don't go in for aattajw riding these days. Seems to be either,
Too loud
Too fast
Too environmentally damaging
Too far (i've met people that won't do over 20 miles at a time to keep the mileage down)
Too intimidating
Don't like helmet Hair
Messes with the makeup (the multitude of genders we have these days)
Can't ship their 5 kids around on a bike
Mainly though, I think the hipsters have done more damage to motorcycling than the mods, rockers and heavies ever did.

To be fair... the license has got a lot harder to get, with more hoops to jump through. Plus insurance is way more expensive on new and/or young riders.
But yes.. we are as a group getting older, I think that has been fairly well documented by the industry.
I started at 16 and have had a bike of one shape or another since then, and I'm 51 now.
Only came back to road riding around 2015 though as for a long time I just did the green lanes (and the tarmac in between). It was after starting to do camping trips on my trail bike that I became interested in road riding again.

I can only agree with all the above - except your second bit

.

34, been riding legally since 18.
Various phases from race/track, road, to now mud.
Well I enjoy riding but the muddy stuff is the best fun and value for money so far.

Well at 47 years old its fair to say that the main reason I was not riding in my 20's was cost. Think you have to wait until your 30's + to have the funds to do so unless your motorbike is your primary source of transport.
I had a 50cc at 16 and a 125cc at 17 (when i pasted my test) but got fed up with getting wet every day and soon decided that i needed a box with wheels so i did not get wet. role forward to 2010 and was left a few grand inheritance and the rest is history.....
