Hey guys and girls,

Been working on my Daytona the past few weeks, I decided to video the chain and sprocket changes and slowly been editing them, made 3 short videos and all are up on Youtube.

First one is a general overview of what I'm doing/plans etc and shows me shortening the chain:

Next I replaced the front sprocket with a tooth smaller, the front nut was super tight so good for anyone else in similar position, some swearing I do apologise...

Finally I re-riveted the hollow link chain using the AFAM easy riv 5 chain tool, half decent tool and pretty easy to use.

Nice, that tool looks pretty good.

I did one recently on my trail bike (so a 520 O-ring chain) using one of the cheap'ish clamp type tools you showed briefly in the final vid.
I would recommend to anyone else about to try this to not buy those cheaper ones.

It can press the plates together but when trying to rivet a pin it just deforms the tool!
Luckily I managed to reconfigure the tool to use a ball bearing to act as the riveting tool and that worked fine.

Thanks Jug, I only bought the AFAM one as a one off really for that specific DID hollow link, the link and the tool only came to about £27, I think it will do a few more hollow links before it's worn out but time will tell.

I used to borrow a friend's one for the solid rivet style, like the one we both pictured but I think it was a reputable brand, rather than these cheap chineese knock offs that are everywhere lol.

Glad you could make it work but ye, good warning to others to be careful what you buy when it comes to tools, definitely don't want a half ass job done when it's holding your chain together.

Bought an AFAM riv 5 for £16 thanks to your recommendation Dan. Really easy to use and highly effective. Agree it will probably only last for 3 chains but I only changed this one to mess with the gearing, so it'll last me ages!
