You don't have to live in Somerset to qualify for this and apparently they will match similar riders/bikes to instructors.

Interesting...

Always loved the Police bike safe courses I wonder if this is similar?

I also wonder if there is one of these in Devon?

There isn't one in Devon, I spoke to the guy running it. They work on the idea that people from Devon use Somerset roads, so they can do the course too.
Apparently the instructors are all ex bike cops.

I did Bike safe a few times and it got less helpful each time. Last time I did it I got paired up with a guy who told the instructor he refuses to ride above 55mph. Thought he was taking the piss, but no. Even on wide open roads with max visibility and no issues it was still 55. The cop got well pissed off, as did I.

On this one they say they're looking at bikes and experience to pair up.

So went on this on Saturday, was really quite a blast.

Bit rusty to start with riding in the rain, headed out over the Moors from Taunton area doing some nice roads. Occasional stop to get advice and swap lead rider.
Being told by the copper to go faster, straighten out bends (to keep best visibility of course), use gears not brakes on corner approach and above all, be more aggressive on overtakes. Ok if you want.

Much better than Bikesafe, more info passed over and loads of riding time. We left totalTriumph about 10am and finished the ride just after 3pm.

Did anyone else sign up?

Seems the rozzers are applying the same mantra that we did to the more skilled and keen riders back in my days as an Army m/c instructor, especially the 'aggressive overtakes' and 'gears not brakes' bit.
