Dorset has had it even worse than Devon I think.

Parts of the A35 near Bridport was like driving up a river, and a village near Dorchester was impassible as the road was submerged and bow waves from vehicles was flooding the neighboring houses

I'm also falling apart, without a rain free day so far in '26 the aching bits are at their worst. I don't mind being old(ish) but I hate feeling old

I managed to go into Yeovil are couple of weeks ago as it's easier to park the bike (and cheaper) but that's been it

I've managed 4 or 5 runs out since Christmas. I don't mind the rain so much, and feel it keeps me a sharper and in better practice generally. I don't like it when it's really cold, one of the runs during the Christmas break was about 2-3 deg, and I was struggling after 1.5 hours, and riding noticeably worse as a result. That's an excuse for tea and cake though, so not all bad. I also don't like cleaning the bike after the ride so it's er... dirty still.

I am a bit superstitious and always work on the principle that if it is a bright clear blue sky day on the 1st of January we are going to have a good year with sunny weather and not to much rain. However if its crap on new years day then its crap all year....

31st December 2025 was a great day, clear blue sky's and nice and clear..... 1st January 2026 was shockingly bad with grey and rain.... I had hoped that my superstition was wrong.... unfortunately it does not seem to be the case..... looks like we are in for a wet year.

I am getting seriously fed up with this rain when will we ever se the sun again. Can I just turn into a bear and hibernate in a cave until April and come out when the sun arrives.

We've actually had a couple of dry-ish days over in Hants in the last week - lots were getting excited about a better forecast last Saturday which proved true and plenty were out on their bikes as a result. Many complained about the cold afterwards - Duuuh! It's still February ya eejits
There were a couple of dry-ish days during the week too (as in brighter and only rained some of the time), and on my commute home on Wednesday I saw one muppet on a bike who'd gone overboard after seeing a dry journey ahead and was riding without gloves FFS...
