It's such a pain cleaning the rear shock and suspension linkage. I've just had to replace all the linkage bearings etc. So in true shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted fashion I've just made a mudguard to keep some of the crap at bay. 4mm epdm rubber zip-tied in place:-

Neat, you'll hardly notice it there either once the wheel is back in.
My 1190 has got something similar to that.

Nice solution there Herr P . I did almost exactly the same on my Sprint, not to keep road crud off the shock but the single side swinging arm linkage. Also, when I dismantled and serviced the linkage I squeezed rubber O rings into the gap between the SA and the top linkage bolt - a new mod for an old and ongoing issue with these bikes. So, a sort of belt 'n braces fix - a little extra work initially should save potential prob's later - that's the cunning plan anyway .

Nice, that'll make a big difference and is easy to remove/refit when working down there.

Good bit of innovation there. Worth checking every so often just in case the rubber wears through the zip ties.

I'll know that's happened when the rear wheel locks up
