Listen to the bike shop, either get the tyre plugged or buy a new one.

slime is a temporary bodge to get the bike slowly to a destination like the garage says.

Personally I wouldnt use it full stop. I certainly wouldnt put it in a fresh tire as a preventative measure if thats what you mean.

Slime is awesome for what it was designed.... push bikes....
the only reason they introduced it into motor vehicles is because they found that it would turn a puncture into a slow puncture which as jason has allready said will get you to a garage for a proper plug or replacement......;)

Don't know about slime but I always put Utraseal in a new rear tyre. I know several people where it's saved a decent tyre.

Ultraseal is the dogs testicles...

BUT it only works if you put it in BEFORE you get a puncture...

I think it worked out £25 per pair of tyres, which sounds alot, but it does a PERMANENT repair if you get a puncture within a safe area...

A safe area, is I think within 60% of the middle area of the tyre (or something like that) in which by law your allowed two punctures, but anywhere else if you get a puncture it's illegal and the tyre has to be replaced...

the sweet thing about ultraseal, is if you get a puncture in an UNSAFE area, it doesn't repair it, but if it's in a SAFE area, then it gives a PERMANENT repair that will last the life of the tyre...

The slime stuff is S.HIT it's designed for biycles, not road bikes!!!

If you do get a puncture, and you don't have ultraseal in them, don't worry, a decent tyre place will take the tyre off the rim, and do a plug repair from the inside starting from £10 a tyre!!!

Just wondering if you have this in your tyres? ..... I saw a demo at a bike show last year and was impressed but would rather hear it from the horses mouth so to say :)

I have used Ultraseal before, Like furry said it's spose to go in before the puncture. I think it's rated upto 150MPH too.

The tyre never lost any pressure ever.

I think Ultraseal is actually based in Exeter too!

I've always wondered, Why does the rear tyre pickup punctures and never the front?

The reason why rear punctures are more common is that if you ride over a sharp object such as a nail or screw, which will be on it's side, the front tyre will flick it up just in time for the rear to get the pointy bit.

I put it in every new set of tyres I get m8, it's used by the army on all their stuff so if it's upto millitary spec then it's more than plenty for us urban peeps too :D

Sweet thing is, once you buy one lot, you can take the bottle back to them, and get it refilled at a cheeper price to use on your next set of tyres!!!

I think they are up in brum somewhere???

Reason I looked into all this, is I used to have a 70 mile trip to and from work every day, and I put a brand new BT010 on the rear of my 400...

Bugger me 2 weeks later I got a screw of all things, right in the centre, I didn't even realise till about 3 miles out going round a roundabout it felt a big vaige in the rear end LOL

Anyway was hassle slowly riding the bike back to work, and then taking the rear wheel off at work to bring it back home (had to get a lift) then get it fixed, then take it back, and put it back on etc...

All that agro, could have been prevented by Ultraseal, so thats why I've used it now, touch wood, I've not got a puncture since, but it's the only stuff on the market that does a PERMANENT repair.

DynaMight true, I could make up some testicles to explain it, but to be honest, no idea m8, but I'd rather have a rear puncture than a front one any day of the week!!!

It does upto 2 PERMANENT repairs if it's in a safe area of the tyre...

People ask, well does it do the repair without you knowing, and then could you end up with more than 2 repairs, making the tyre illegal???

Way it repairs it is you get something stuck in the tyre, and then you might loose a bit of air etc, anyway it's when you pull the nail/screw/glass out, that the Ultraseal stuff is pulled out with it, and then auto plugs the hole!

So least that way you can keep a count of how many repairs it's done.

Anyway enough waffin, it's not the be all and end all but out of whats on offer to us to buy, its by far the best, and it will save you aload of hassle :D (espically if your a long tripper like me!)
