Smart Looking GSXR1000 clocks (For my TL1000R of course!)

Well, I've changed the back-lighting and modified the clocks to work on my TL1000R, they came from a GSXR1000 K2 series...

I think I'll add some more blue tomorrow, so it starts from 6k rpm instead of 8k... but even so first stab at it I think was pretty good!

Could get em to fit your bike no probs :D

Mine is a 1999 TL1000R SRAD too :)

Main reason I'm gonna fit these GSXR1000 K2 clocks was cos I couldn't see what speed I was doing on my current clocks... they go from 0 to 190mph... writing was well tiny...

PS: Reason I changed the backlight colour of the GSXR1000 clocks that I'm gonna put on, is cos the colour red really doesn't agree with my eyes, which makes it also hard for me to read LOL... but blue and white much better :D

So its an easy swap? I'll try and pick up a set of 01 on digi clocks. Is there any preference of what bike its from?

I know exactly what you mean with the speedo - my mates digital R1 is easy to read at high speed.

There is actually... only certain ones will work...

Lemme look it up... I'll let you know which ones are good to use :D

I got a K3, furry, digi clocks as standard :P

How hard is it to change the colour of the backlight, mine is orange at the moment but I was looking to change it to blue but haven't a clue how, there.s a website in the states that do it but I don't fancy being without clocks for a month.

Cheers

Was not an easy job, took over 3 hrs, very fiddly working with SMT stuff, and thats even with me being experienced in electronics...

LED's alone were over ?G40, even though the pic looks a bit dull, they are very bright :)

I wouldn't recommend making it all blue though (too much of a good thing?) but I can understand you wanting to change it, the standard orange is shat LOL

The end result (After much changing combinations)...

Desided I didn't want all blue... would make the rpm hard to read... so kept some white in there... but it's all good now...

CvPiper m8 what I found on the TL forum was this...
Just a quick note...Gixxer K1 2 3 or 4 clocks wont work with this set up.
Infact i have been reliably informed that 750 clocks will not work on either the 600 or the Thou, but the 6 and the thou will swap between eachother and work on this mod.
I found out the hard way by fitting 750 clocks and finding they dont work!!
Thanx to Steve at Symtek in the UK.
My gut feeling is that cos your bike is an SRAD version (Like mine)... what works on mine will work on yours... it's only on the 2000 onwards models I believe that the GSXR750 went a bit weird in the electrical dept!

Strange as useually Mr Soooki likes to keep everything the same to keep costs down...

The ones I've got are from a GSXR1000 K2 model, so I'm sweet.... Seems like if your interested in doing it m8.. this Symtek could help tell you which ones will work 100%...

Then it's a sit and wait game on ebay till you can find a set that someone ain't bidded stupidly on...

I got mine for about ?G80.... but I've seen others exactly the same go well over the ?G100 mark (always get muppets with more money than sense on ebay!)

Excellent, will be getting in touch Symtek to check exactly which. Just torn between spending say £100 doing it or putting that towards the SP1/Gixxer Thou fund
