Out tonight test ridin a 5 year old CBR6 with 52k miles on it and met up with the guys out at the Lyneham pub. Had a good night until I'm riding back and overtake a couple of nonces on TL thou's. Honestly, you'd think a big bike like that would be hustling along but just cos I overtake them they flash me. I stop to see what is wrong and both of them let fly about irresponsible riding. Jeez, just cos you ride a twin doesn't mean you have to pretend its a f'kin harley.

Wan**rs. The saying must be true, if you cant ride a bike fast, ride a fast bike.

That must have been them I saw on the way back, all hanging off and trying to go fast, but getting nowhere.

They are probably just pissed cos tl1000 are so slow compared to a good modern bike, like a CBR600 or R6.

Mind half the time its not the bike it's the riders who don't know what they are doing. Bunch of tw@s.

Sounds like a 1 off but the way these individuals acted has nothing to do with the bike they ride so don't even go there...there is nothing slow about mine I can assure you...as craig from here with his gsxr750k4 found out...it's not about what you got but how you use it

Furry, sorry mate, I dont know you and I dont normally generalise but I do find thaty most TL1000 riders are living on the reputation of their bikes wheely ability and have very little ability themselves apart from cracking a throttle open in a straight line. Thats why most of them boast about only getting 1000 miles from a tyre but have about 2 inches of chicken strips up the sides. Stick with a 5 or 6 year old in line 4 like the CBR or R6 and you cant go wrong. Good handling and fantastic reliability with decent fuel economy.

The in-line four's are so reliable, they go on for miles and miles.
The CBR do huge mileage with out any problems.

And no questions about dodgy handling.

I dont think its the motor that makes it reliable its the care and attention of the rider............. thats why mine is ready for the scrap heap!!!

You two have got to be joking right I've got nothing against inline 4 cylinder jap 600s but they are hardly the pinacle of motorcycling and whilst they maybe good at what they do they do lack character somewhat.

The TLs are fantastic bikes, i'd loved to own one, and the handling was only an issue on the S model which poeple blamed on the rotary damper but was just as much to do with the f-wits riding them. IMO twins and triples are much better than inline 4 600s because of their character alone not to mention the fact that they offer far more useable drive on the road. And if u did want the best an inline 4 has to offer then u'd be much better off with a 750 or 1000cc bike.

Don't get me wrong sports 600s are great bikes offering cheap reliable speed for the masses and for value for money u can't beat them but better than a 1000cc twin NEVER.

Ooops thanks frank i nearly forgot about the 1200s.

Maybe we should organise a rideout to show these guys that u don't need a superlight flickable 600 u can do just as good on a big old bus with loads of torque.

We already have the darksiders on the sight think we need another group..........THE BUS DRIVERS. Anyone else got a big old lump that they use to wallow around the outside of pocket rockets in the bends??

Agree with Frank and Andrew 100%. That's why I ride a thou.

But I know, as does Frank the a well ridden R6 is pretty damn fast. Oh and Frank has shown us a well ridden FJ is pretty damn fast to.

Its just the type of rider TomR6 meet the other day. Total prats the lot of them.

Of course you have to maintain any bike properly, it just seems Honda's are pretty good generally and the 600's in particular.

Surely Not, you are forgetting that because ONE (or was it 2 or 3, depends on time of the month I guess ) of them blew up at 30000 miles, they ALL do! :rolleyes:

CBR's are excellent. I done 44k on both my blade and the last 600 I had. Go on forever if you do regular oil changes. As for 600's not keeping up with the bigger bikes thats testicles. At Donnington a couple of months ago I saw Luke Harvey doing 1.43's on a 125 2 stroke whilst guys on trick Gixxer thous were only getting 1.50's. Its the rider everytime.

Fastest guy I know on the road rides a 750. Frank nails that old FJ everywhere and wipes the floor with the quicker newer bikes. As an all rounder though you cant beat the reliability and handling of the big mileage CBR 6's. They are also more fuel efficient than the racing Harleys.
