Ok, i need some form of security for my bike im getting,(as it comes with nothing) whats a datatag, is it worth getting? Better to get alarms and immobilisers? Will these cost a lot or reduce insurance? Chain and padlock or disc locks?
Any input will be appreciated, thanks.

I've got Alpha Dot and some form of security marking should reduce insurance. If you aren't going to be able to garage the bike then the best security you can afford to be honest, a decent chain at the least. Either that or ask a mate if you could garage it with them!

Wheres the bike being kept? Garage? Shed? Outside?

I'd recommend an alarm and an imobiliser, anything thatcham cat 1. I've got a meta which is pretty good.

Get a decent disc lock. Something that is labelled as 'Sold Secured'. This means its recognised by Thatcham and may get you a discount on your insurance. Also very handy to have under your pillion seat, incase you stop somewhere during a ride.

For overnight parking, i'd get a big chain and lock, once again something sold secure. If you can, get a ground anchor to put it through.

Datatagging is another good idea.

Anything you can do to prevent your bike going walkies is worth it. Like riding gear, don't skimp on the expense.
If someone wants your bike (professional bike theives (scum of the earth)), no matter what you do to it they can still probably take it. All we can do is secure them as best as possible and hope that it acts as a deterrent.

Well i have a shed out in the back garden and a drive big enough for 3 cars, so maybe put an anchor in the ground and chain it down.
Have seen some recommended disk locks in the last issue of ride too.
Saying this i live in a quiet area but i know that doesn't mean that one night i wont get a monkey trying to swipe my bike.

A loud sensitive alarm, disc lock and a ground anchour with a big chain. Hopefully the alarm will sound when they try to detach one of them and that'll surely scare them off.

Keeping it out of sight is also a good method.

Lets face it. if they want it, they'll have it.

Ideal, i have a dealer about a ten minute ride from my house. Doesnt display any prices...any ideas of cost people, lol.

Yeah thats cool, thanks, alarm all in (inc fitting), £299 and datatag all in (inc fitting) £95

META alarm is the one to go for, the others tend to have reliability issues!

Chain...Almax 3 with Squire 65 lock, put that on and your bike ain't going nowhere.

Alphadot/Datatag good idea to stop the bike being broken for parts if it does go walkies, but if you got the 2 above, it's highly unlikely!

If your extra paranoid (I would be if I was leaving a Ducati or GSXR outside), fit some sort of tracking device, but they are £500 plus yearly service charges on many of them!

Bloody hell, might just tie a long chain from the bike to my ankle so when they try to nabb it theyre gonna have to take me with it lol.
Might just wake me up, getting dragged out of the first floor window....glad i dont live in high-rise accomadation.

Have you considered buying a Ural? Cheaper than a chain and you can be pretty sure even the lowest of the low won't steal it.

Don't forget to get a chainsaw to chop their hands off if you catch them
