Hi all,

Need some help. I was out on the bike the other night when the chain snapped. I ended up pushing a long way home. Chain snapped at 9pm I got in at 1am

thanks to all you guys who stopped to check me

I got a new chain but its got a press on link thing. it seems that I have a couple of choices.

push the bike to bike treads which would take me about 2 hours and pay£5 or buy a riveting kit! Damn the kits are expensive...

Anyone around the Swindon area got one I could use for a couple of minutes to get me back on the road? would give ya a couple of £££ for your trouble? pless help

why dont you rivet it yourself thats what i have always done,. been rideing for 11+ years. just have two hammers hold one behind the chain and then with the other burr(rivet) the ends. use vice grips to push the link plate on if you have trouble 8)

I know that split links are out of favor at the moment, but in all they years I have owned/worked on bikes I'never seen or heard of one going if fitted correctly. they are avalable for all chain sizes and types including o-ring. I know several people who carry extra splitlinks so that if the chain snapps they don't have to push the bike home.
