I've got a really understanding boss - even lets me take time off to go out on the bike if it's sunny

I get 12 weeks holiday per year, I spose I can't complain... but unlike teachers, support staff don't get paid for them

so yeah my work sucks, but I don't hate it like your job .....

I hate some aspects of my job, the moneys good the time offs good but the way my life is controled is crap, at the momment i'm on easter leave but i've just found out that one of the lads that's doing easter duties can't do them anymore for some reason, so i'm not anwsering the phone because they can order me back in just like that. It does'nt matter what plans i've made for this weekend.

After working for the same company for 17 years, and about 14 of them doing pretty much the same thing, I can safely say I'm very bored with it.
The money's quite good for down here, but only because I get a shift premium, 4 on 4 off shift pattern is very good - lots of time off - but 12 hour shifts screw up evenings on work days.
The job itself isn't exactly repetative or boring, and can be challenging at times, but after all this time I'm sick of the place. The threat of closure/redundancy is never far away, but it could be a lot worse. I've just had a decent pay rise (first one in 3 years) and break times are fairly relaxed, allowed on t'internet, as long as the work gets done, so on balance there's probably nothing better in the area for me at the moment.

sometimes I absolutely hate my Job, sometimes I dont mind it
but the money is very good and generally I only work a 35 hour week when I am not away.
do get fed up with the travelling though - was in manchester for 2 days this week a couple weeks ago I was stuck in belfast for a few days, often up in London. Being away from home wears very thin very quickly. On the flip side of that I do get to go on some very good work related jollies - e.g. conventions in amsterdam - car track day using ferrai 360 and 550's....

Pay could be worse, hours pretty good, and I'm pretty much my own boss as my manager is 120 miles away.
I can arrange to be in when it's wet, out when it's sunny, and can find good reasons to visit places such as Newquay, St. Ives, Looe, Dawlish, etc., when it's sunny

currently out of work, and i hate it
i know it gives me lots of time on the bike, but then everyone else is working, and as i'm not earning i don't want to spend toooo much on petrol.
however, i'm waiting to buy another house to do up, so when i'm doing that i'll be very happy

i'll be my own boss, and if its a nice day, i can pi$$ off on the bike for a couple of hours!
