GSXR Oil Cooler Question

Hey all

Just wondering whether or not I'd have any issues running an oil cooler from a GSXR750 Slabside (pre'89) on my GSXR1100 Slingshot (89' model). I know that the oil coolers between 750 and 1100 are compatible with each other, but whether they are across the different model. I'm looking for a cheap fix as mine is damaged beyond repair I think, half of the top row is missing!!

Thanks

Lee

the slingshot coolers are quite a bit bigger than the slabside ones, and the spacing of the top mounting bolts is slightly different too - slingshot mounting bolts are spaced wider apart so you will need to get around this. Height wise the bottom bracket is pretty much in the right place but again slingshot frame rails may be a bit further apart so you may need to "improvise".

cooling capability wise it might be pushing it a bit, however i believe that 1200 bandit coolers are smaller than slingshot gsxr ones too and its based on the same lump so it should cope.

if your motor is standard and you've not otherwise tuned it you "should" get away with it, but just keep an eye on how hot its running.

Re the hoses, ive also got a feeling that slabside oil lines use a big banjo fitting on the sump, but slingshots use a threaded take-off. you may need to improvise with slabside hoses and some sort of adaptor on the slingshot sump takeoff.
