Thumbs up for the Optimate III

Had a little fun and games on Monday. It's winter I thought. Give it some choke I thought. Well it started, then promptly stopped and then wouldn't start again - and yours truly flattened the battery trying

Muppet!

So, today I am the proud owner of an Optimate III battery charger. What a marvellously fuss free bit of kit. Comes with a weather proof connector for permanently attaching to the battery so I don't have to pull the bike to bits every time I want to charge it. I can leave the Optimate on the bike continuously while I'm not using it and it'll keep the battery in tip top charge.

3 hours later it says the battery is fully charged so I took it off and started her up - and boy did she start up! INSTANTLY!

The battery was obviously already a bit down on Monday. Guess that's because it hasn't been out for three weeks.

Anyway, all smiles now. Good bit of kit and only £38.77 delivered from gear4bikes.com (who were well on the ball - thanks guys!).

Yeah they're good, also pretty good at working out if your battery is screwed. They fully charge then do nothing for 30mins then check the voltage, if it's dropped the light will go red.

It's not our year for batteries. So far in the 5 other years I've never had any problems, never even owned a charger but within the last 4 weeks both our bikes had dead batteries but both bikes were barely used by the prev owners so could have something to do with it.

Never take my bike of its one, and never yet had any probs, brill bit of kit, even keep it on the new batt I have as the previous owner fcuked up the last batt.

Busters are doing them cheap at the mo at I think £34.99, I remember getting an email through last week.

i have one of these but stupidly left the connector bit on my r6 when i sold it so cant use it again unless i source the bit that connects to the battery so you can plug it straight to the optimate!!

Bought a 2nd lead from my local dealer for my optimate, sure it was less than a fiver. Suggest you try original dealler - may have one from a returned item etc.
