Hiya,

Just thought I'd say Hi - Dave from OYB Training in St Austell told me about this forum.

Well.....I'm Billy,29 from Sheffield, but now living near Looe. Did my CBT yesterday, with my DAS booked for next week (hope the weather improves!!) and looking to get an SV650S - I think, although it changes on a daily basis.

Hope eveyone here is well, and I look forward to seeing you around when I (hopefully) pass!

Cheers, Billy.

Think it is deej - just bought a Ducati, sold his CBR600...?

Just a question to all of you in the know:

Been looking at bikes (and more importantly insurance quotes!!), and have narrowed the list to:
SV650S
CBR600 - 2000-2002 ish
R6

Really want something with a fairing, not too keen on windblast! Just wondering your views if the CBR or R6 would be a bit too much just after passing my test? Equally, I want a bike for a few years, so dont want to get an SV, then sell it in 12 months wanting something more...
I think I'll be a pretty steady rider, am eager how to learn to ride properly and safely, so I'd hope that I would have some self control!
Obviously the SV is cheap to insure £140 quid fully comp, whereas the other 2 are £300 TPFT.

Whadya think? and thanks

Billy.

Yes thats Deej !

go for a Cbr 600 mate as you will get board of the Sv quite quickly (no offence to SV riders)

I second that. Having not ridden either I'd go for the CBR or R6 purely because of style-factor 8)

Good luck on the test and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for all your help...

To get a decent SV I would be looking at at least 2 grand, but for around 3 I could get an R6 - its mighty tempting!!!

Does anyone know how they are for a novice? Is the power delivery smooth so I won't get caught out? Also, Im 6'1, so will I be cramped?

thanks for all your help so far...am sure I'll have loads more question!!

Cbr 600 is more forgiving mate and the R6 is supposed to have a nervous front end so cbr6 gets my vote
