Plans have been unveiled for a new village on the site of Llandow airfield.

Llandow Newydd, as the village would be called, would contain 2,700 homes, two schools and a community centre.

The airfield is currently used as a distribution and storage centre, a race circuit and a base for small industrial units.

The project is being masterminded by house builders Persimmon and Barratt under the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s 15-year development plan

Not necessarily - depends how the land deal goes. As it's the council it might be compulsory purchase - in which case the circuit will try to trade until the last day and book ahead until they have a date that they'll be out of there. Then they'd just refund everyone. Alternatively it could take years to get through planning.

Sweeeeet, put my name down!

I can't see Llandow closing within the next 3-5 years as planning and development takes soooooo long...

Many years ago (15 ish) there were plans for a new housing estate at Snetterton, and nothing ever happened.Lots of plans for houses, shops etc but it slowly died a death, and is still a great track.Hopefully it will be the same at Llandow.

Easy solution to this prob is if anyone knows anyone with a lot of land down here in the good old Southwest we can build our own circuit.

Phils the site handy man, so he can do most the work

Nigel Mansal tried it last year for a go cart track and failed so i doubt they'll let a bike/car track get built in the west country

I found out a few weeks ago, a guy in South Molton has been trying to open a full blown race track there for the past 15 years and the council keep saying No, the tossers.

God, a race track 10 miles from my house, wouldnt that be great.
