what made you buy the bike that you chose?

What was the logic ?

Mine was 100% based upon the fact that I had wanted a Tuono since the first time I saw an 'exclusive' pic in MCN and I rushed to a dealer to test ride one and a mille (for comparison you see :wink: ) as soon as it was out.

I love the way they look, all sportsbike but no fairings, the fact that Aprilia didn't bother 'retuning for more midrange' as every jap factory would have and giving it crash bungs from the factory, who else would do that?

pillion provision was not even a consideration, I dont carry passengers unless there is a damn good reason.

I like V-twins and the fact its a litre bike is an added bonus, the wheelies make me giggle. (we're talking 3" off the deck here not 1/2 mile through the gears :oops: )

it has its problems, the rear brake is a bit poo, the alarm setting itself does my head in, finding neutral is a pain in the ass sometimes and the tank range is not good.

So, why you got the particular bike you own ?

I was looking for a Ducati 888 SP3-5, but couldn't find one I liked for what I was prepared to pay, and didn't want a 916 (I've never seen the "appeal" of the styling :oops: ) ...... Whilst looking I saw the TL, and thought it could fit the bill perfectly - nice grunty twin, but with Japanese reliability ..... a change from the Italian will it/won't it lottery of when you press the starter :roll: And haven't really regretted that decision in 5 years now 8)

If I had bought even one of the slighlty scruffy 888's I looked at, I would be doubling my money now however :evil: (probably would have cost me more than that in maintenance over the same time though :lol: :lol: )

i had an R6 and my wifes mate told me that her 55 year old uncle who lived in Canterbury was selling his GSXR. I did not really show any interest in it and thought no more of it as i was more than happy with the R6. However a couple of months later the chap selling the GSXR was desperate to sell as they were retiring and moving to Cyprus.

Basically it ended up with me buying the bike off of him 1 week before they were up and off to pastures new. I went to view the bike and bought the bike in Sept 2005. This was the deal i got.....

2001 GSXR1000-K1 with 8k miles FSH bike kept in a temp regulated garage he owned it from new
1 Arai helmet
1 Shoei helmet
1 set of RS Taichi race leathers
4 sets of bike gloves
1 pair of Sidi boots
Opti mate charger
some paddock stand that fits the centre of the bike that i don't really know how to use or trust

I got ALL of the above for ....... £2500 and he even said to me that he was not open to offers !!!!!!!

I bit his hand off sold my R6 for £3300 even though it had done 11K and was a 2000 plate. The chap i worked with paid me £2500 for the R6 up front so i could by the GSXR.... 4 weeks later he still had not come up with the other £800 he still owed me so he gave me his 2000 'X' plate Fazer 600 instead of the £800 quid....... it was a bit of a dog mind.

so it was puely a financial decission then, no emotion toward the bike itself just a deal that was too good to miss.

to be honest as soon as i saw the bike i knew it was the one ....... i took the bike up the road was in awe of the power and the looks.

However on a downside i did have to MOT and tax it....... :lol: :lol: :lol:

I also figured i could keep it for a few years and still get my money back on it.

I bought my bike ( cbr600rr ) because the bloke selling it promised me it ‘Will make you attractive to women’. 8)

Me thinks he forgot to prefix his promise with ‘Nothing’ :cry: :cry:

brought the zx10r because of its rep of being a soft friendly ride :lol: :lol:

what a cracking deal you got there mate you will prob stand to make a couple of quid even in 2 or 3 years time :!:

VFR400 because single sided swinging arms kick ass and it was cheap-ish to insure for a first time rider. In my view, it is the better looking model than most 400's around the same year.

The bike itself was a bargain and was relatively unloved so I haggled until the seller was blue in the face. I think now it is worth more than what I bought it for, (I'm sure that's what all bike owners think about their bikes) but not interested in selling it at all!!

had a TZR 250 (twas sweet) but fancied a big sportier tourer so i bought a TDM 850 solely based on a mates praise and experience with the model, if i had stuck to what the motorcycling media had said about them i would never have tried one. 4.5 years later we're still together.

hmm well I have my current bike possibly because I am a gsxr addict (being on my fith one in a row)

although the reality is I ride gsxrs because suzuki make them the easiest and safest sportsbikes to go fast on the roads on and I do like things made easier for me.

I like the fact they they do everything well as opposed to selectively doing some bits better than others.

When a manufacturer releases a bike that is a better than a gixxer thou then I will definately buy it. Until then personally I dont see that there are any real alternatives if your after a new bike.

I will probably replace my K6 with a k7/K8 come the end of this year.

well im a triumph man. wanted a Daytona 600 really badly when i foud out i could afford one. The salesman at total said why not look at the Speed four and sent me out for a test ride. I had prevously ridden a daytona 600 at bridge (which covered my foot in gearbox oil lol) but on riding the Speed four i was impressed by the midrange power and the exhaust bark that the daytona just didn't have. Then when i found out i could buy a brand new Speed four for the price of a used Daytona i jumped at the deal. TBH iv never looked back at the old daytona. Im hoping triumph are thinking about a daytona 1050 though.

I have had 2Strokes, V4's, IL4's and I wanted a V-Twin as my next bike and there wasnt much choice as far as sports bikes goes, the SP1 came up at the right price at the right time. It's certainly a bike that grows on you, not the fastest, lightest, best handling bike (none of the Twins are) but I'm not exactly Rossi either.

Next bike should be a triple I reckon :)

I took one look at my SRAD and instantly fell in love. I'm 6"4 so I need a big bike. This is the perfect size, its not to heavy, the engine is amazing and I think it looks great. The perfect bike for me? Within my budget, yes!

I had a zx6r g2 but was involved in a bad smack, and I was only tpft. :roll: 2 years later :shock: :evil: the third party admitted 100% liability :D 8) , so nice payout.

Now the plan was to get a mint zx6r j2 in blue, however there was a Daytona 600 at work that was pre reged but no miles (hadn't even been pdi'd). My boss offered me a fantastic deal and I ended up with a nice shinny new bike.

I'd been wanting a truimph 600 since the tt came out and when the daytona came out I did a lot of drawling. I had already ridden one so new what they were like. Mel came to work to make sure she'd be alright on the back. Sorted :D

It's had a few problems mainly the front brake is crap, no matter what you do, which seems to be the same with most triumphs. But I love my bike to bits.

Never thought I'd ever own a brand new bike.
