My CBR 600 trackike bike running a 160 rear has Metzeler Rennsports on it at mo.

These are in need of a change before Llandow but have loved them to bits.

What do i change to for even more grip or do i go for the same??

But without the use of Tyre warmers (not doing enough yet to invest in these)

Are Metzeler RACETECS "TRACK" tyres compared to RENNSPORTS being "ROAD" legal versions??

Anyway any recommendations to any of you track goddess's out there please??

I guess in reality there is no such thing as a bad track/fast road tyre, whichever gives you most confidence in your mind has got to be the one worth your money.

I used supercorsa pros the other day...SC1 front SC2 rear they stuck to the ground like shit to a blanket, they didn't even slightly give at any point (apart from the bit where I was barralling along the grass into the gravel trap   ). whether they are better/worse than alternatives who knows....but I liked them, not that that means anything.

the downside is they seem to be unnecassarally expensive.

hey mark how is it?

i used racetecs the other day at my test weekend and found them awesome, (heat up quicker than slicks to).
they must be half decent as the british superstock lads use em! id say the best road race-tyre on the market.
i know speedys gonna be using a set at llandow, bought em off my mate (180's).

hope your well mate...Rich

Cheers for the replys boys. Will go out and get some prices and see what i can come up with. Will pop in and see Steve at Peak to and see what he can do.

Racetecs or Supercorsa's it is then.

Am i right in thinking Metzeler are a Pirelli brand using a different name anyhow ??

yep same company, different name and different tread designs.
rennsports are probably better if not using warmers but racetecs/supercorsas are a better track tyre.
on my cbr rr last year i loved the pilot power 2ct,i had so much confidence in those tyres straight from the off and i expect you'll be able to get them to fit a 160 rear easier than the 2 above. have you tried ebay for some 160 scrubbs?

out of the 4 i'd recommend the pilot powers....

I use super corsas on the track cos they are stable, grippy, reasonably constant, easier than slicks to keep heat in and tend to let you know before they lose grip rather than snapping away like a dunlop.

That said, I have used diablos and only lost 3-4 seconds a lap but got double the life. My mate is an ex BSB privateer and he now uses diablos on his ZX10 and gets an extra half day over supercorsa in terms of life.

Cant comment on other tyres as I have been using pirellis for the past 3 or 4 years cos they work really well for me.

I used diablo corsa 3's at the nurburgring, they did the job fine but I did get a bit of movement through them, but nothing to unnerving. They last for ages to. Such a good all round tire. Not many tires that sticky that you could ride to the ring, tear them apart over a couple days whilst there, then ride back and still have a bit of mileage left in them

Steve at Peak said Rennsports was a better bet then the Racetec's as i am not using warmers.

Got the 2ct's on the RR to but didn't think they did a 160 for the FT model.

Getting some prices sorted.
