Will be after a second bike quite soon, so looking at spending ~£3k on one of the above! Both will cost about the same to insure, but the 636 will be a fair bit more expensive to purchase. Anyone got any experience with these?

MMMMM ZX7RR FOR ME

Both good bikes and depends what you want and how you ride, one thing you will get is a very stable front end.
the 6 will be quite revvy and nimble, the 7 is a bit heavier but very planted. try them both before making a decision

The 6 in a heartbeat. Comes with a slipper clutch and just as fast as the 750. Spent 3 days on track with one of these about 2 years ago and it was awesome. Felt like I was on a penny farthing when I jumped back on the R6.

750 is a good bike 2 but like deej says, try both and see which one flicks your switch.

I doubt I'll be able to actually try one on the road, only 20! Obviously I'll get a sit, but its finding one local to try!

If you can afford the 6 go for it as it will the more modern one. Never been a lover of the older Kwaks. UGLY

Same with the older Gixxer's  fat and ugly

But its down to the you at the end of the day and what you feel comfortable on. Test rides are the only way to really tell and you can't buy a bike without doing one first surely :?

Ask here on site to see if anyone has one for you to try.

Pedro is letting me thrash his 10R soon arn't you Pedro ??  He will

Have done with the last 3 bikes, no dealer will let me test ride a bike as I'm too young apparently

If anyone wants to let me try one that would be wicked 8)

just do what we all do and test ride one privately through ebay or autotrader and make your decisions from there, you dont need to use a dealer for everything.

636 imo. Kelly has one and its awesome.

Looking at the specs and you'll see the 2003 ZX7R makes 121BHP and weighs 203kg dry, the 2003 636 makes 117BHP and weighs 161kg dry. Makes 4 less BHP but weighs a massive 42kg less, not to mention the much better brakes. On the track there's only one winner, doesn't mean the ZX7R is a bad bike though, it'll do the job just fine on the road. There would still only be one choice for me though.

Also the 03 636 doesn't have a slipper clutch, the 05+ does and so did the 03/04 ZX6RR (600cc version)

hi ya bud........got your new tyre yet

i must admit the zx7 does it for me
memories of yanagawa and walker lobbing them round the wsb tracks

did test a zx6 03 model when they came out and awesome bike spoilt by the rock hard rear shock.
i spent more time out of the seat than in it and i'm not exactly light.
that won't be a prob now thou most shocks would be as soft as jelly with a few miles use

 yeah got it sorted saturday. Buggers at Gupa P overtightened me chain though, and now its [Censored], its got huge tightspots  . Before it went in, good chain, after, bad chain. They just tried telling me that they dont adjust the chain at all, which is rubbish, me swingarm was covered in chain lube and they had rubbed it off to see the markings to line the wheel up. Taking it down there on Thursday for them to have a look at it, apparently. Really dissapointed, they've been really good before for me :| .

Anyway. From what I've heard in reviews etc, the zx7 has a much more aggressive old school seating position? In comparison to the 636. Sounds painful?

i always thought the zx7 was a comfier bike, along the lines of a blade rather than a screaming il4. just get out there and test one and see what you like. one tip i was told when i was looking for the 7 is to check the gearbox carefully as theyre a good bike to wheelie and the box can get slightly mashed, but i suppose that oes for any sportsbike these days
