2 years of restriction is over!!!
Hello!!!
As of Wednesday my 2 years of ridding my r6 at a mahusive 33bhp has come to a end. I took into my local garage to get it derestricted but he has a busy timetable. The engineer there told me it was a simple job of just removing washers in the fuel carbs under the fuel tank... Im not a pro mechanic but i like to get my hands dirty and so far have done all sorts of odd jobs like Chain spocket, oil, lights, and replaced some electrics so i may have a look 2moro.
Just wondering if anyone has advice. I know im looking for washers but can i just take them out or are there originals that need to go back in? Its a 2002 r6 if that helps.
Thanks for any help...
Carl

Well this is the story so far. Took of fuel tank and airbox... Can see the Washers in the carbs but there about 10cm down (Im looking down) But they seem tightly in place and attempts to tap them have failed... How do you go about getting the stupid things out?
Re: 2 years of restriction is over!!!
dunno about the construction of the r6 but can u remove the air trumpets? that might be whats holding them down in the carbs, if i understand your description right....
let us know where abouts in SW you are and im sure someone can help if u need it.

Re: 2 years of restriction is over!!!
Are the washers only visable when you open the throttle? If so, you might need to get to them from the 'other side'. I helped a friend take the washer type restrictors out and they were situated between the carbs and the rubbers to the engine block. It was just a case of removing the carbs.

Yeah i think you'll find they are the other side of your carbs you gotta remove your carbs to get them out.
Re: 2 years of restriction is over!!!
Thats easy to do, but you need a long allen key as the screws that hold the carbs in place are a bugger to get at. A Haynes manual will tell you how to do it. If not once you have the airbox etc off you are left with the carbs and trumpets. There are two screws located in the middle, approach them from the headlight side and two screws you can get to for the sides if you removing the frame infils on the sides. If you can when you have the carbs off turn the screws so they are easy to get to. It'd be a good idea to invest in a set of the any-direction allen keys... technical terminology there. I'm a bit suprised they are located all the way down there though. Are you sure as you're looking down the trumpet you're not looking at the butterflys? They will move as you twist the throttle.

Im looking down and there below the things that move as you open the throttle (Very technical names here). Im sure they are the washers. There about 3 cm down from the things that open as you move the throttle.
