Parking in town for a little while - What security?

As I still have a couple weeks before I get my bike, I'm just trying to order all the stuff I need regarding security.

I feel confident that my bike is pretty secure when it's parked in my garage, but I was wondering what most of you do when you park your bike in town (for whatever reason).

Do you always chain it to something? What chain?
Are disk locks + immobiliser enough?

Living around Bath so not overly paranoid about theft, but better safe than sorry. Crime statistics say that in 2007 there were 6 vehicle thefts in the area, and obviously I don't want to be one of those 6. Cheers.

Take care and drive safe.
G.

Hmm, couldn't find the edit button...

Anyway, I'm fairly certain I'll be getting an Almax chain.. http://www.almax-security-chains.co.uk/ ... /p-69-123/

Thoughts?

If my bike is parked up anywhere outside for quite a while I'll use my abus granite chain, wrapping it around the wheel and swing arm, preferably to something off the ground. It also hasa thatcham alarm/immobiliser.

What alarm specifically if I may ask?

I just just use an alarmed disc lock.

But then again I did have my last bike nicked from out side my house with one fitted.

now my new bike is kept in a garage and anchored down with an oxford chain. but if I'm just popping in town to goto the bank or somthing I just use the disc lock.

its a decent one, i like the fact that to arm it properly for movement you have to press the button otherwise it eventually beeps to notify it's in a service mode. The last data tool I had armed itself after 15 seconds, a nightmare at the pumps.
