Ladies and Gents i am after some advice on how to use a slipper clutch. With the K1 i just pulled the lever in and blipped the throttle before each down change.

Should i be doing it any different with a slipper clutch?

Its the same as before, just without one if you let the clutch out a little to quickly at high revs it may had locked the rear but with a slipper clutch it shouldn't ever lock up. I've never actually rode a bike with one and I dont feel like I've ever needed one tbh.

ride the bike exactly the same. it will do the work when needed.

GSXRs have really good slipper clutches. Its purpose is when your banging it down through the gearbox under braking it will stop you locking the rear wheel and reduce rear wheel chatter. leaving the bike way more composed for the turn in and giving you one less thing to worry about. You can be more aggressive with the downchanges as your scrubbing the speed off.

if your a heavy braker you will likely be quicker on a bike with a good slipper clutch (some are better than others) and you will really use it on a track - the thing with slipper clutches is if they are working well you kind of forget you have got one.

If you want to feel it working on the road just whack it down to the next gear to early - instead of the back wheel doing horrible things you will notice the slipper doing its thing. It can only do so much though so dont go 5th to 1st in half a second or something

Yeah i tried that little move back in 96 on my CBR 600 the day after doing my 3 day course and test.(had never ridden a bike .....ended up leaving the road straight over a roundabout fecking shit myself, hence i tend to brake pretty early now which ultimately makes me slower on the track

no need to blip the throttle,just change down a gear,let the clutch out and enjoy the sound and feel of the slipper working
every bike should have one,once youve tried it and got used to it you'd hate to go back to a standard slipper

gv,does the sp1 not have a slipper of some sorts as standard

Nope its got nothing except the rider you can buy slipper clutches from Ebay though about £450 mind.

TL's have a half-way house termed as a "Back Torque Limiter" by Suzuki - basically a stepped ramp inside the clutch hub which allows a degree of slip when forced ...... never made it work (or tried to really ) as far as I know

have a hrc slipper with carbon plates in the garage but i thought the sp1 had a similair slipper to what moose said the suzukis got, a kind of semi slipper device

Got a slipper on my Benelli and its handy sometimes if im a bit harsh on my change down. Never really had a problem on non slipper clutch bikes though, so I guess its down to your riding style.
