Don't want to bore you all too much but thought I'd post up a video from my recent trip to the ring. Unfortunately I only managed to mount my "covert" camera facing backwards which makes for an unusual video lap but I was still pleased with the result.......a bridge to gantry time of 8.59 my new PB

As it says in the link although I slowed 3 times (once for the recovery truck and then for 2 separate incidents) I can confirm that I saw both bikers involved in the incidents and both were walking about and appeared to be without any serious injuries.

looking pretty slick, Andy, and over a minute faster than that girl on top gear in the diesel transit ;)
The guy in the red car was pretty determined to get past wasn't he? bet he was cursing those 2 bikes early on
takes some balls to ride that quick in the knowledge that you have a cross-continent journey home, hats off to you

nice footage andrew. Was it dry for your full time there?
where you chasing a lap timer or did you out work it out from the vid after? Always better to let the time find you rather than chase the time at the ring I think!
deffo close to 8.30 to come without interruptions.

That looks fab.
Isn't all that writing on the circuit slippery in the wet ??

When its wet the whole track is VERY slippery and not fun at all (but the writing itself isn't any more slippery than the rest of the track).
I got lucky with the weather this year as after a first day of constant on/off showers we then had two days of glorious sunshine.
Jason - I was timing my laps but not chasing any time, you just can't do it at the ring as you never know what you are going to encounter. TBH I don't think I managed one lap where there wasn't at least one incident or caution sign to slow down for so the timing is only ever an indication at best.
Chris - the red car was a Porsche GT3, i kept him in sight for the remainder of the lap but on the fast section (run upto Kesselchen) I could see he was much faster so let him past - hell of a car considering I was doing 130+ mph and he really flies past in the vid.

8.10 on your first trip is incredibly fast, what car was it?? do you have a vid?
Always drop into the Karussell its bloody awful if you're forced to go round the top.
It certainly is petrol head heaven, I love the place although couldn't beleive this year how much the cost of doing a trip has got. I love going by bike but I reckon my next trip will be by car as I really want to take the Mrs across.

This is the car:
550 bhp and four wheel drive with a rather large set of AP brakes. The driver has done hundreds of laps and it was an experience to get a passenger ride in it.
Yeah the cost has gone up for the laps, and of course the pound is weak against the Euro
We are going back end of august/start sept
