some have had good deals, some have had shite deals, make sure you go all over the bike and check EVERYTHING, friend of mine was sold a bike and the head bearings were completely shot aswell as the chain/sprocket set.

same as anything really, u pays your money and takes your chance

as simon said, check it top to tail. its sold as seen for a reason ! they will have taken it on a part ex basis at a low vlaue and not want to do anything to it which means you'll probably have to fork out for tyres, chain/sprocket etc if your not careful
good luck anyway

thanks for the thoughts....

what it is, is that me and my partner have just bought our first home, and am lookin to down grade my bike, and hopfully get some cash back as well.

Its a 53reg Red R1, with just under 14k on it, totaly standard.

Dont realy want to do it, but such is life.....

If im gonna downgrade, was lookin to get some a bit crazy, maybe like a street fighter or somin,

any suggestions?

i got my Trumpet from Speed on a sold as seen deal, but it was one owner with full service history, however the MOT was out and no tax so it was strictly a trailer it home (cough cough, yeah right), got it serviced and MOT'd and all it cost me was a wheel bearing so for me it was a good bike and i have ran it for a year now and touch wood no problems at all....... :)

speak to adlebertz on here, he bought a sold as seen and so far its had over £400 worth of work done to it, new chain/sprockets and still needs new head bearings, plus he paid full whack for it.

Buying a sold as seen bike from a bikeshop is a big no-no for me. If they're not prepared to give a warranty it must be screwed....

Yup thats what i would think - if a garage are selling it was sold as seen then there must be something up with it !!

well thanks for all the advice guys....

i have some good news!!

wont be getting rid of the r1! :D :D

the reason i waws gonna sell was because me and my girlfriend just bought our first home, and it was to pay soliceter fee's, tax's etc

but just heard on the news they have abolished stamp duty tax for houses under 175k, which is gonna save me nearly 1500,

im so happy right now!!!!!
kissing the r1!!!!
