While cleaning out the fuel tank on the ninja i heard a rattling sound,so i shook it out and it turns out its a datatag transponder.Looking closer i found some dot coding on the fairing too.
Does anyone know if i need to register it in my name and is it actually worth it?
Will it cost me?
cheers.

personally i think its worth it. I have done all my bikes. I think it will cost you £20 when you contact datatag to change details. Most insurance companies like it when you have datatag, how much they like it i don't know.

Doesn't do alot except maybe help the police recover the bike if its stolen and they are unable to confirm whos it is by numberplate etc but since its already there you may aswell change the registration details into your name.
I think I paid about £15 but that was a few years ago, so probably more now for them to delete someones address and add yours.

Had a similar situation with my VFR.
When I bought the bike there was no Datatag paperwork, so I contacted Datatag via e-mail from their contact page on their website & they sent me a form to fill out & return. The cost as of October is £15.50
