That would be down to that MP that got his numbers wrong in the press some time ago, Edward Leigh he was called, suggested that 38% of bikes were running around untaxed when in fact the figure was just 6% or thereabouts, so in answer to your question yes we are probably connected with tax evasion even though it isnt true for the majority of us. You could go to the complaints section of the site and lodge your objection, i will be in just 2 ticks and will let you know if i get a reply :) :)

just asked the question:

was just looking around the site and saw this page:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Ow ... /DG_070358

any particular reason that people who ride bikes are being singled out as tax dodgers, i can't seem to find a similar warning for car drivers or HGV drivers, its not really the best way to encourage people to tax their vehicles by alienating them upon arrival on the site................

In fairness there have been TV & ad campaigns for some time targetting car drivers ..... I'm guessing that to a degree bike riders haven't really been targetted in the same way and are now being warned

The Irony is why warn you at a place where you would only be if you were acting legally

I'm also guessing they are making the point at this time of year when people might be tempted to bring a SORN'd bike out (untaxed) a bit early because of the odd nice day :?:

Got to agree with those points, especially the middle one haha.

If you have tax, no need to worry. I don't care about what happens to an untaxed bike on the road...

Im sure the people who tax their bike wont take any notice of the dvla website, the people who dont tax their bikes will surely never see it?

People who email the goverment to complain? way too much time on their hands in my opinion
