They have been using Busa's, Blackbirds, & Fireblades for several years.
If memory serves me right the first Blade's were brought in by Durham police about 10 - 12 years ago :)

when the guy in the blue shirt was explaining his reasons for trying knock the bikers off their bikes he couldnt look the copper in eye - making up stories me thinks

plus, the video footage they were broadcasting had a big sign saying 'needs calibration'. now there's a good advert for the police lol

Many years ago a bloke in a club I was in told us that he tried to get away from plod on a Pan Euro on his ZX7.

He couldn't shake him off, and in the end the effort needed to maintain the necessary distance so he couldn't get his plate was too much, and he gave up through exhaustion.

Never underestimate plod.

Yes I know they are not all riding demons, but you can bet that the one's selected to ride these bikes are.

Totaly agree. Pan or BMW they can ride bloody quickly & very smoothly. Even if you are a carbon copy of Rossi in your riding ability & do start pulling away from them you will still have difficulty outrunning their radios which run at the speed of sound.

I got stuck on last years Air Ambulance ride after everyone else turned off and the marshall tried to commit suicide by jumping out on me to stop me turning off and about 3 bikes ahead was a police BMW, i followed him all the way back and it was one of the best rides i have had, his lines made perfect sense as you watched him as you would expect and the difference between his riding and the guys in front of me was amazing and top speed was no more than 50, hardly ever did he touch his brakes (unlike the bikes in front of me, constantly braking and accelerating) and he never leaned more than a few degrees but what he lost on the straights he gained in the bends without seeming to try, it was worth being stuck behind him for an hour or so.............. :)

my universally unpopular view is that if police motorcyclists where have as good as they thought they where then they would be twenty times as good as they actually are in reality. They are legends in there own minds...give me a copper in car any day of the week - far more agreeable and less bullshit prone individuals.

the police on superbikes thing is just PR...someone would lose a job if a superbike in police livery was piled into a hedge and thats where its likely to end up if it got drawn into a chase. Any half decent road rider would leave one for dead, ......and if you cant outrun one on a BMW then you truly are crud.

that said though you shouldnt be getting involved in police chases....its dumb and selfish and endangers other people and even if you know your ok at speed its still your fault if/when the copper following plants himself in a hedge or piles into some pedestrians. dont do it. they also have radio.

when they have learnt to ride bikes then maybe the "bikefarce" training thing they do will make sense :D
