If it's just the outside that needs sprucing up, then I've always found that a good scrub with baby wipes followed by a proper leather wipe/feed works great!
If the inside is stinky then I guess you'll need something more...

All I've ever used is Nikwax Leather Cleaner and then the Restorer which waterproofs too. In all honesty I've never done the insides so I don't know! Hmmm that makes me sound scummy doesn't it...

Mine go in the washing machine on a low low low heat wash. Says its ok on the labels so i guess its ok.
Although that only gets done once a year if that - usually its just cleaning the outside, in which case i just use a damp cloth, and then proper leather wipes, and then a leather feeder.

I think you should read up on leather care before you think about putting them in a washing machine!
Hope this helps.
Also, this was put up ages ago but full of useful suggestions!

I do the outside with NikWax leather feed.
The inside gets a quick burst of sanitiser spray, same stuff you get for doing insde helmets & boots. Stick them on a hanger & leave them outside for a couple of hours to air out
