As the model shown says it fits a TL too (though not mine, as the '97 only had 2 wires from the GPI) then my experience is relevant ......

I found it made a noticeable difference to my bike, pulling noticeably better in 1st - 3rd, though some have said they didn't notice much change. The '97 TL's weren't restricted in the lower gears, but the re-call ECU fitted to just about every '97 that still exists (dealers had to return the original ECU to Suzuki) was

The unit can be made for about a fiver if you are handy with a soldering iron. Have a look here http://wotid.com/tls/content/view/17/57/ The plugs are readily available too if you don't want to cut into your wiring loom.

On the advice of Funky, I bought one for my old bike (Leroy's new bike) GSXR 600 K5.

Good bit of kit, easy to fit... 8)

Sorts out the lower end a treat and gives you a bit more up top in 6th. I swear by them. Such a good mod for 25 quid.

Can't see that Funky (the more power up top in 6th bit) ...... it's a TRE - Timing Retard Eliminator - to restrict the performance of the bikes in 1st - 3rd they retard the ignition timing lower in the rev range in those gears only. All th TRE does is con the bike into thinking it is always in 5th. (Not usually 6th, as on some bikes - i.e. 'busa - there is a speed limiter too)

I could notice the difference on it in on K1 gsxr 750, only marginally in first and second (I think the timing is only stepped back in those gears anyway).

I then put one on a K2 thou...and I could not notice the difference at all, this could be because the thou has so much punch in those gears any small diff a tre might give is completely overwhelmed. I havent put one on a gsxr since.

as for it removing the speed limiter on the thous...there isnt one to remove...the clocks stop reading at an indicated 186 but the bike will keep on pulling for as long as its horses will allow, its only the clock reading that is restricted...I guess the tre lets it read past the indicated 186...a bit pointless as the clocks are out buy then and you are travelling at warp speed so wont be looking at them anyway.

I had one on my 1000 K1 did it make a difference, i dunno tbh like Jason says these bikes go like shit off a shovel. But they are cheap.......i will say i was getting an F1 fault code from time to time, didnt seem to affect performance though.

What you need is a 1/5th throttle insert - effectively a quick action throttle - it is a stunning improvement and a much better value for money pep-up than the TRE

personally Id rather have the gear change indicator (it will always read 5 as all the thing is is a resistor that makes the bike think it is always in 5th so the Ecu is always using the timing map for 5th removing the very slightly less advanced timing in first and second. I dont think there is a way around it, but not 100% sure.

of course your bike lifts up its a 160kg 130bhp bike!
