Hey people, went to Paignton fest today. (Sunday) .. was impressed with how many hundreds of bikes turned up. Aparently it was the best turnout they'd had. Some awsome bikes around.. Not alot going on with the stalls though etc. What did everyone think of it?.. i didnt go last year..

Oh, and on the main road from Penin to Paignton there was an '09 Duke Monster sat on the inside lane of a roundabout waiting to pull out.. I went past on the outside and came off left into Paignton and as I pulled away a car shunted into the back of his bike and sent him and the bike onto the roundabout. From what I saw the back wheel was squished up into the frame and front pushed back into the radiator  .

The matey on the bike/on the road seemed ok, but by the time i'd stuck my bike at the side of the road and legged it back down to him an his bike there were about 4 other people helpin him so i just thought fuggit and went.

So,.. if anyone knows this guy on the Monster.. hope your ok and I saw what happened if ya need me. :x

Anytime i witness an accident i allways stop and give the guy or girl my details, you can never have enough witnesses for your insurance company. The last guy i did it for was on a Harley and a woman pulled away from traffic lights then just hit the brakes and emergency stopped and he went in the back of her, turned out she was an instructor doing her examiners test and got nervous and hit the brake instead of the accelerator, she admitted fault and the guy rang me up a week later to thank me and let me know she was paying for his repairs in cash as she didnt want the claim on her insurance..........

Not any more, there has to be a reason for you to just stop sharply.(and believe it or not a domestic animal running out in front of you isn't a good reason to jam on the brakes these days) A favourite pastime now is for people to get in front of you then stop sharply, you hit them and then they claim for whiplash, damages etc etc, there are even cases where people have reversed into someone behind them then claimed they were the ones hit from behind and its such big business now that the insurance companies are fighting back on these whiplash claims. My Truck insurance company is trying to get me to fit a little device that records the last 2 minutes of driving on film through my front windscreen and it also measures speed and actual collision forces on the truck to try and determine if the crash was hard enough to cause any injuries claimed for or as they put it to prove my innocence in any accident but its all a bit big brother for me and its bloody expensive as you would expect being satellite linked for GPS and tracking purposes...........

I think when you've worked all week and do work at weekends for other people it's nice to find an excuse like Paignton bike festival to just sit on your asse and chill out...wasn't expecting anything different than years past..it's just a good atmosphere to be in when 80% of the people there are in the same mindset as you..it's good to be able to admire time and effort that people have put into something they enjoy doing and have people admire the same on your own bike..all in all a good weekend :) :)
