Mate of mine reckons 600's are girly bikes and proper men always want a bigger one,,,,what do you lot think??

Although I've never ridden anything bigger, In my opinion I don't think you need anything bigger than a 6.

Can understand why people do go bigger, for lazier riding, torque. But when pushing on, I think its a great feeling going up and down the box to keep it on the boil, and the silly high redline. I'm forever short shifting thinking it must be near the redlinelook down and its only at 12/13k.
They are still capable of doing over 140 and how often do you get to those speeds anyway.

Personally I don't want anything bigger, although I could be tempted by a litre twin.

well i was watching 3 CBR Honda 600rr bikes flying around Silverstone in the advanced group today.......didn't look like a girls bike to me

when a supersport laptime is as close as a second to a superbike laptime then the obvious answer is no but it all depends on the rider and his limits

i did oulton park 2 years ago on a cbr6rr with road tyres,i went back last year with a ex zx10 race bike fitted with slicks and was no quicker, why ? coz i aint good enough to ride them any faster

On the track is very different to on the road ....... If you ride "in the zone" all the time, then fine, but ride like that on the road all the time and you'll soon become a statistic

Yes, on paper (and on the track) they can be very close, but in normal, everyday, 80% riding the bonus of the extra cubes of the bigger bike for changeless overtaking, easy filtering and effortless cruising/blasting makes a huge difference (in my opinion ...... )

Personally i have never owned anything less than a 750 and mostly 1000cc plus, nothing against smaller engined bikes at all but i just like a substantial bike to sit on, i sat on a GSXR600 at Speed and it felt really small to me and i like to ride lazy shortshifting and using the torque, the triumph sounds like a bag of spanners at low revs then sounds gorgeous as the revs go onwards but any 600 would probably ride all over me (lack of skill, not the bikes fault)

Long and short of it no, Ride what you want to.

Just think how long this thread would be now if Statley/Andyals was still around

600's are frigging awesome machines, ask Blimey, Jay, Julian, Leroy etc

When he gets up off the floor (after kicking him in the c0ck) Tell your mate to try keep up with any of the above on track or road...

Ooh i dont know about lazier riding, i ride my 9 exactly as you describe!
You just gotta be careful in the lower gears and coming out of corners cos that front end gets awfully light..

Ive never ridden a sports 600 but i did the like feeling of being able to pin the throttle without worrying too much on my vfr 750.Im guessing they handle muuuch better than my barge of a bike too!

I had a 600 bandit 3 years ago and it was so easy to ride, low seat height upright position big mirrors.

Good bike for a novice,,,,,,or a girl.

I think that 600's are byno means a girls bike at all, they are very high revving and very quick indeed, plently fast enough for 90% of riders, and only 10% of riders are probably good enough to be able to push a 600 over its limits anyway.

But i do think 1000's have a place on the road, as said they make overtaking easier, quicker off the mark, and its less stress on the engine to do the same that a 600 does. However i think its alot easier to get caught out of them !

Use to think 750's were the best all round package, But the 600's have caught up and for our roads is more than enough, I will go for a 600 next time prob R6

Personally I think anyone who rides a bike that is under a 1000cc, should be shot at dawn and it just means they are not man enough to have something with power.

There all going on and on like little girls saying how powerful the new 600 range is now, but thats them just trying to think big and act hard when in fact they are all probably like jelly.

Does it really f**king matter????? As long as you are enjoying riding whatever it is - naked, sports, IL4, twin, litre blah blah blah, I can't see the point in asking this!!!!

How true! and for what its worth? its just as easy to crash on a 1ltr as a 600
