I'm looking at painting my engine, currently its bare aluminium, and I want to paint it a nice glossy black! Ive had a look around, and have heard hammerite is crap, Halfrauds sell a high temperature enamel engine paint which looks like it'll do the trick, any other suggestions.

Just got a quote from Daften for powder coating my rearsets in a gloss black, and thats £35 for all 4 which i think is very good! And £70 for the wheels!

Get your engine cases powdercoated black.

I will be getting around to my GPZ at some point and as its a heavy bugegr to lug around i will be preferring the home aerosol option rather than take it somewhere

where are daften too, might need to get my wheels done soon

if you go for paint then use PJ1, nothing comes close to it for engine paint

Whats pj1? And where can i get it? and moose its for the daytona, i'm an indecisive bugger lol gonna carry on with what i wanna do to it but still think about sellin!

PJ1 is a manufacturers name. I have found their engine & casing paints to be the best by far, and can highly recommend them

Personally with a bike as young as yours, I'd leave well alone and keep it original,but if you're gonna do it, it nees to be done right to keep any value

However, should you wish to go down that path, I have engines painted painted in the past using a decent 2-pack paint (can't remember the brand now) that worked very well. There was a little concern as to how well it would stand up around the exhaust ports but in the event it was absolutely fine

To do it right though, there is a fair bit of work involved - engine out, all anciliaries stripped off, casings taken off, and be prepared to replace any fastners you don't want painted the same colour as the engine

Its in that first link i gave further up the thread all you need to do is click it and they can send them, dunno how they get round the mailing of aerosols but they do........

its easy if you dont declare theres aerosols in there
